Hey guys,

This is my first post at this forum so I'm just gonna introduce myself.

I'm 21 year old guy from Sweden who has loved comics in all forms since i was a kid.

All in the range from Donald Duck to Spawn.

However, I have always had a thing for Marvel and DC. Mostly Marvel.

I did however decide to get into the New 52 universe after i caught up on all the crisis (in multiple forms), blackest night and a few other major DC events.

So far I have read almost the whole Batman, Green Lantern, JLA and Teen Titans.

It is not that i need introduction to the other comics, but what i actually could need is a sort of recommendation on which you guys prefer the most.

Which comic from the New 52 is your favorite? And why would you recommend others to read it? (Both new and old readers).

(Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this, but I couldn't find a specific forum for DC comics in general).

Awesome guys!

Personally, I have found Batman: The Dark Knight sort of "meh". But the rest will definetly be read in the coming days. I have a lot to catch up on.

My favorite so far is the Green Lantern. Really want to see more of Simon Baz.

  • Batman - it's very good. Plots are a little long for my liking, but the quality is excellent.
  • Aquaman - this should be on everyone's pull list. The art, plots and character development are superb.
  • Flash - this is my favourite book. I like heroes with a large variety of rotating villains and IIRC Flash has had 15 issues (including 0 & Annual) and there's been 10 or so villains.
  • Justice League Dark - I wasn't reading this until Lemire took over (#9) and I can say it's an enjoyable read. The characters and plot twists are incredible.
  • Animal Man + Swamp Thing - both of these are great books. My only problem with them is they've both been dealing with the rot for far too long now. Since issue 1 for both. It's been like 31 issues already (when you add them together) it's just too long a story, but the quality is excellent... I just wish it could deliver the feeling of wrapping up instead of dragging out.

I didn't start reading New 52 comics until 12 months in. Personally what I did was I started with Justice League and then I branched out to reading associated characters. I haven't been disappointed so far. So I've read...

  • Justice League - Good foundation giving you a taste of each character. Also gives you a glmipse of what a Justice League movie might be like. Also, personally I love the Cyborg origin story.
  • Action Comics - Gives you a glimpse of what a Man of Steel origin movie might be like. Shows a more realistic year one for Superman.
  • Flash - Really cool art work. Also shows how truly powerful the Flash is. He does more then just run really fast.
  • Aquaman - Right now I'm reading Aquaman. Really interesting take on his character taking certain pop cultural themes regarding his lack of popularity and applying them to his narrative.
  • Batwoman - I also read this. It was a good series with and interesting take on her place in Gotham, but I wouldn't put it at the top of my list. But if you get chance it's a good read.

Thanks a lot guys!

I really love New 52 so far.

The only thing I am wondering about is how the continuity is played out in the green lantern books?

From what I know, Kyle Rayner originally came directly after the fall of Hal Jordan (which they show in the beginning of New Guardians) - however, they do mention that both Guy Gardner and John Stewart was a lantern before him during one scene in Green Lantern.

Have they changed it, or are the Green Lantern comics not related at all to New Guardians?

Guy and John have always been Jordan's replacements, way before Kyle was created.

Guy was one of the two major candidates for Green Lantern of Sector 2814, but Hal was closer to Abin Sur when he crashed his spaceship. During the time Guy fell into a coma, John was his replacement as Hal's replacement Lantern.

Justice League - It's been pretty decent so far but Ivan Reis' takeover on art is what I'm really psyched for. Things are looking to get pretty intense.

The Flash - Some issues are a little short but they're always sweet and it's been consistently awesome throughout.

Action Comics - Also consistently awesome throughout save for a few issues.

Batman - It's just been great.

Green Lantern - Also great. :)

Batman Incorporated - One of my favorites. It's action packed and thrilling.

Earth 2 - Another of my favorites. The characters are just great and the action is superb.

Just my recommendations :)

@SmashBrawler: Oh okay! I seem to have gotten that completely wrong then.

But thanks a lot, now I am not as confused anymore. It all makes sense now :)

Batman

Aquaman

Justice League

Wonder Woman

Nightwing

Action Comics

Earth 2

Team 7

Justice League Dark

Green Lantern

Honorable Mentions:

Birds Of Prey ( Really underrated imo)

Superman (because of #0 and #13)

Sword Of Sorcery

Green Lantern: New Guardians

Well I read quite a lot of the different new 52 titles, but I can really recommend the Batman related books. Not all are as strong as Snyders Batman run, but all are worth a read. Justice league is also very entertaining.
