Real-Life Research Being Conducted into Superpowers?

We just stumbled on the Tandem Initiative website, which appears to be doing research into evolving genetics and “Homo Sapiens Superior.” Obviously it’s easy to be skeptical. It’s weird that you have to enter your birthdate and they are asking for people to share their “gift,” if they have one. They don’t say the word “mutant” but refer to “ genetic gifts,” and there’s a telekinetic right there on the front page.

You can send in a photo displaying this gift and you can describe it. Seems that this“Tandem Initiative” says their mission is to “scientifically bring the world together” and wants to explore those that are gifted, and remap the Homo Sapiens Superior genome.

There's also a section you can "meet others." Apparently these are either people that have sent in their photos or maybe people being researched? The website is copyrighted to the Tandem Initiative so you have to wonder what this is all about.

The government is trying to make superhumans. This is true. They're aiming for about 2030. But I am unsure of how legitimate this site is.

@draciosv: It just seems weird. What throws me off is the age thing and asking you to submit a pic. Maybe creepy? Obviously superpowers can't be real but then why go to all this trouble?

But... there's already a Documentary about "genetically gifted" individuals. I think it was hosted by Stan Lee if I'm not mistaken and it's on Netflix if I recall correctly. We already know there are "genetically gifted" individuals and in the videos I've seen its no where near the level seen in comics. (+)

Your muscles will only lift what your bones can support. Our bodies will have to change in other ways to support whatever super power we discover. That means coming up with ways past physical limitations that may have nothing to do with the super power we're aiming for. Personally, I'm hoping to be a super human before the zombie apocalypse hits.

I've always wanted to become an X-man. This would be like my childhood dream come true.

Obviously we should fear and hate this new breed of subhumans, and be sure to discriminate against them.

@g_man: Thats what steroids do, add bone density. But too much muscle mass will also crowd out veins and airway passages (I think, I'm not an expert here). If that happens we'll have to find ways around it. My guess is that, if we ever make super humans, they'll be along the lines of space marines in that there's not much left that resembles a human beyond outward appearance.

They lost a lot of credibility when I stumbled upon the sweepstakes and their association with Tumblr.

But I have see some unexplainable stuff in my life...so this could be legit...

I'm quite enthusiastic when it comes to the possibility of superpowers but I'm not believing that by 2023 there'll be 7 billion "genetically gifted". Maybe they're actually researching how many people believe them, we just don't know it...

i believe the government has found out that people these days love comic book movies a lot so they are trying to find a way to lure people into becoming lab rats for experiments to develop them for something e.g. bane

maybe its one of those phony sites for a movie like they did with days of future past? if not well remember that show stan lee did where they spotlighted real life "mutants"? so nothing particularly special there.
