What is your stand on reading comics on a small screen? Does it greatly affect reading experience compared to reading a physical comic book and/or reading on a tablet? Thank you! :)
Reading (digital) comics on a smartphone
It's do-able, but not my preferred way of reading them. If I read them on my phone for more than 15 minutes or so I start to get a decent headache from the eye strain. My go-to method for reading comics is on my tablet due to the convenience, portability, and that there is no risk of damaging my physical copies.
Also, Marvel Unlimited and Comixology are great services.
To me, reading something such as a comic, book, or manga, digitally, doesn't seem natural. I'd much rather have the actual thing in my hand, and be able to turn the pages myself as opposed to having to click or swipe.
@mysticmedivh: I used to feel that way. I've been collecting and reading comics since the mid eighties and thought digital just didn't feel right. I am now completely addicted to Marvel Unlimited and have changed my tune.
However I cannot stand to read them on the phone, I just can't concentrate.
@kittyparker13: Where do you read your comic books? comiXology? :)
@socmalig: Primarily MarvelUnlimited. :)
@socmalig: I really enjoy reading on my phone, and it is my main mode of reading. I have an HTC One with a 4.7 inch screen and also use my wife's Galaxy S5 with a 5.1" screen. I use the guided view so that I see each panel once at a time and then have the whole page show before it transitions to the next page. I like doing it this way so it has a more cinematic feel as I can't look ahead at all but still get to see how the page is laid out and see everything as a whole. I can even read the text fine when the whole page is on the screen, although it can strain if doing so for too long.
It's nice reading it on your phone and having it available anywhere, but nothing beats the feeling of actually owning a physical comic and turning the pages yourself.

I read everything on my laptop, nice bright, and 1366 x 768 so I'm satisfied plus I have a 2 Terra-byte hard drive I back them all up on so if my laptop bites the big one for some reason they're still safety in my possession elsewhere.
