Yeah, 20 years later for no reason whatsoever. She is evil and crazy so that Scott doesn't have to feel bad for being terrible to her, not because it makes any sense.

and that was the phoenix who was controlling her that ate the stars, Jean is a human she eats food like normal people on earth do...
