Currently for Me best of all time.

This year it jump started me watching anime again for the first time in almost a decade. And every thing I've watched sense I've loved but nothing comes close to the raw devastating emotional power this franchise has in it.

10/10 franchise. Not the best, but ground breaking none the less.

Its not confusing at all once you have watched the entire original series and end. (And of course if you pay attention)

As for boring watch the rebuild movies tthy ramp up the pace hardcore.

A wonderful mindfuck. I haven't seen the third movie yet, but the original series, even being reasonably dated and flawed today, is still great.

Watch original series of you want to be totally abused in the mind and don't care for slow pacing (though the action is really good when it does have it). It was also done during a depressing time in the director's life so it had a bleaker feel than the rebuild movies.

Watch the rebuild movies for more fast paced, actiony retelling. The rebuilds have a different story after 1.0 than the second half of the original series. Also 4.0 isn't out until 2015, so if you hate cliffhangers/wanna marathon all the movie's, hold out until next year. The rebuilds also are less bleak than the original due to the director not being in emotional turmoil.

9.5/10 average for both original and rebuild movies for me.

Very good. I like the series, but not the ending. I like the relaunch movies, but only 1.0 and 2.0.

It's not my favorite anime, but I can understand why it's a classic.

And I should add that for me, before Sheska, there was Mari.

3.0 is pretty bloody bleak man! (tis a good thing)

4/10 - definitely over-hyped. Some series are better than others, with the mediocre ones being excruciatingly badly written. The story and plot, when viewed from the macro level, doesn't make much sense. The original series is weighed down by some of the very poor quality of the movies.

Dont bother defending it. It's really boring with confusing plot and bland characters (except maybe that new chick with the glasses)

OMG now I know your full of crap, mari is the one character almost EVERYONE even fans of the series bash for being too bland and depth less the rest of the cast especially in the original series are some of the most fleshed out characters in the history of animation!

(To be clear I like mari, she is a lot of fun but she does have the least amount of back story or character development of the cast)

This is just showing the difference in types of audience.

I feel like Mari brings life to the cast while everyone else is just mostly serious with little emotions (even Asuka)
