Alright excuse the title, I couldn't really think of a better one. Ok so I was wondering, if you have fodder like say for example you have 100 ninjas right? But one of them gets singled out for his own solo story, he doesn't show anything big but his story shows the training of what he and his ninjas go through.

The ninja himself let's call him "Jack" shows some good stuff, again nothing ridiculous but impressive none the less before finally his story ends.

Now taking Jack, could he be used as a base for what the other ninjas would be capable of despite that they weren't singled out?

Or is it just because Jack was singled out and showing stuff, that the other ninjas wouldn't be able to do what he did? He didn't show anything huge, but he showed the results of his training as a ninja and so forth.

@wolfrazer: It really depends. Is "Jack" shown to be a typical ninja? Is the story written in such a way that it is clear he isn't exceptionally skilled for the group, he isn't exceptionally smart, etc. If his stories shows he is stock ninja in every way. Then yes you can correlate his competence with the rest of the ninjas.

That's often a problem with stories focusing on minor characters, they want to make the character interesting so they use the lazy method of making him have awesome abilities etc. Then you wonder how the hero mowed him down so easy.

@crom_cruach: Yeah he's just a typical ninja, he just shows the results of the training that he went through n all that.
