Father: Oh my God! He's still drinking it, even with the raw eggs! This is awesome! Spit in the next one and see if he'll drink that too!
Daughter: Can I try some?
Mother: No dear, you're the only hope for the future of this family. You stick with real food.

I never did do the lettering for bx1's script on this one...so I think I'll give you the honors, Jotham, and letter your script over the weekend.

My biggest thrill meeting with a pop culture icon was probably R. Crumb back in the early 90's. He signed a T-shirt of mine with one of his big-ass women on it.

Waitaminute! I take back my words. It had to be smoking a doobie with Timothy Leary around the same time. I wonder why I forgot that. :D

Another one? When am I going to find time to sleep and walk my Velcro? :b

OTOH Crumb and Leary are lightweights. If you want to talk about real star power, nobody ever beat John Wayne! I danced with him once...the boogaloo!

Nope. Never got close enough to him.

Back in those days people danced without touching. AAMOF, you could have driven a tank between us and we never would have missed a beat.

And (in case you are interested) he was a lousy dancer.

Nope. I just happened to be at Trude Heller's nightclub (it used to be at the corner of 9th Street and 6th) and he and his entourage were seated at a table.

The girl who was with me dared me to ask him for a dance and I did. That was at a time when huge celebrities were safer mingling with the general public than they are today.

I believed it happened before that, but now I think you are right. The Lennon assassination ushered in the modern age of stalking.

I used to routinely run into people like Dustin Hoffman and Marg Helgenberger in elevators or places like Zabar's...but I guess that doesn't happen anymore.

This is the story of Susan, the happy little heifer, and how her flesh became nourishment for your family. Follow along, from abattoir to dinner-plate!
(Includes Scratch-N-Sniff stickers!)

Actually, I could just design a little Scratch-N-Sniff sticker and put it in the middle of the cover (under the word "Market").

Your "This is the story..." caption can just float over the herd and the auction illos.

Yeah, the sticker sounds like how I envisioned it. Upon further inspection, I think my second sentence (Follow along...) is redundant due to that blurb "from Open Range to Kitchen Range" on the bottom of the cover. When I think about it, that's actually sicker than my idea.

But the CV writers and I can't claim all the credit. If it weren't for Bob Burden's collection of PSC's, this thread would not exist. Old pulp covers are not that hard to come by, but PSC's of this vintage are rare, even in digital form.
