What is the difference between these terms?

Psychic tends to mean telepathic & occasionally precognitive. Psionic can mean anything that's powered through non-physical means. So you could say that Boom Boom has psionic control over the time-bombs she creates as they take any form that she chooses and detonate whenever she wants to... just by the power of thought. Likewise, Rockslide doesn't technically have a physical body anymore; he is a psionic being who assembles rocks where his body should be to create a physical body where his psionic force is. However, neither of them are psychic & can't read people's thoughts.

Psychic is more of a general term dealing with more passive psionic abilities, like telepathy, empathy, telemetry, precognitive visions, postcognative visions, astral projection. Passive meaning the power doesn't affect things in a physical sense. Psionic mainly deals with a mental manipulation of physical energies, and tend to be attached to terms like kinesis. Psychokinesis, pyrokinesis, electrokinesis, telekinesis.

Psionic means to physically control with your mind
Psychic mean to passively see the future, speak with ghosts, (Watch the movie Insidious)

TP doesn't necessarily mean you're a Psychic. All it means is that you are able to read thoughts or project your thoughts to another physical mind.

I guess the best word to substitute Psychic is Seer. Nostradamus was a seer. He visualized the attack of 9/11/2001 back in the year of 1555.

Marvel Girl would have to be able to see into the future (or past:::: for example unsolved murder cases) and speak to the dead to be a true psychic.

It's because they are using the word "psychic" as a shortcut term.
For example: Psychokinesis can mean controlling all physical power with your psyche, but we don't say Xavier power's are psychokinesis because he can't control fire, or say that Marvel Girl is psycokinesis because she can't control ice or lightning. So it's either people confusing the two words or they are using one word to shortcut substitute for the other.

Long phrase:
"Jean can move objects with her mind through the use of telekinesis."

Short phrase:
"Jean can psionically move objects."

Long phrase:
"Magneto can control metals with his mind through the use of magnetokinesis."

Short phrase:
"Magneto ca psyonically control metal."

People do use them in the same cases, but one isn't really meant for the other.
Like I said before; Psychics can have direct links with Events. TP can not.
TK is having a mental connection using your thoughts as the medium ( aka: psionic {{not pyschic}} ) to move an object that is not within your physical reach.

a Psyychic is just someone with a mental ability to perceive things that a regular person can not. Seeing event in the future for examplecan be called premonition, precognition, or Chronopathy. Psionic is a word that was honestly just created by comics to make a distinction between active psionics and passive psychics.

I have to agree with XK. Psionic is usually used to describe a much wider spectrum of abilities (psychic powers included) while psychic is more related to telepathy and other similar abilities.

Psionics enable you mental control over something. Someone who is psychic has the ability to mentally control and manipulate minds.

Yes, but not by physical means.

Psionic Entities are not tangible so only the physical body can "die", but the spirit no. Yes, Psionic is like a spiritual level. The Astral Plane as such would be one of the places to "Kill" a Psionic being. But sometimes some psionic beings are above the Astral Planes (like Dormammu).

technically, psychic as a term has evolved. people tended to associate all types of parapsicological powers like TK, TP, and necropathy or clearvidence or seeing the future or whatever, into one group, psychic powers. soooo, it can be used as that, in a general way

or it can be used more specifically as it as been explained: psychic is more of a seer or necropathy power
