Poll *poll* was Captain America: Winter Soldier really all that? (108 votes)

1.Yes! it was all that! 73%
2.It was just OK 15%
3.I was left flat :( 5%
4.didnt see it just show me results... 7%

The debate was Captain America 3 was going to be overshadowed by Superman v Batman. I remember reading a comment that said Superman v Batman better watchout because Captain America 3 was going to put a hurting on it. The reviews for Cap 2 were soo phenomonal. That got me thinking- was it just hype or was Cap 2 really all that? Now that several weeks have past and emotions less raw and driven, was Cap 2 all that?

Better than Avengers IMO. Also many people like to mock Captain America and say no one likes him but honestly he's my favorite MCU character

Just read the OP, CA:TWS was great but BMvSM is still gonna stomp.

I enjoyed it.

Even if Cap 3 does get overshadowed by BMvSM, I wouldn't really care. I don't plan on seeing it, I have a feeling it'll be crap.

DCCU and I don't stand very well, considering the disaster, Shill of Steel.

it was better then Avengers for sure, the only rememberable part of that movie was standing on the city block(not the battle) and Hulk owning Loki. I still think Incredible Hulk was their best movie, then Winter Solider, gap then Iron Man 2 and Iron Man.

Man of Steel did great without the huge promotion Marvel throughs behind its movies.

I loved Avengers. I loved Thor:TDW and Iron Man 3 as well. Cap:TWS was the only movie after the Avengers that didn't have any major things that annoyed me e.g, too many space stuff in Thor 2 (I preferred the more medieval style fighting Frost Giants vs Asgardians) and I didn't like that an Iron Man suit was basically made useless once it was touched by an Extremis user. Cap:TWS has more suspense, action ,character development IMO.

Maybe it was not the best CBM ever, but definitely one of the best. And it was way better than the other MCU Phase 2 films so far.

I admit I was a little too quick to herald it after it came out. Both because Cap is my favorite MCU character (and one of my favorite Marvel ones) and because IM3 and Thor 2 were such crap, but its still a very good movie.

On further review I'd say it would be nice to see more of Winter Soldier than we did. I mean for a movie with him in the title, he only spoke like 10 lines lol. It did set up for a nice ending to the trilogy but as we've seen before in CBM trilogies the third one is usually disappointing (to say the least) and often down right horrible. We can only pray Cap 3 isn't.

I personally woulda liked to see more Sharon too, but I completely understand why they used Black Widow so much instead.

Still the fight scenes were quite enjoyable, and somehow they made Falcon not be a lame character, which in and of itself a great feat.

I'll have to wait to rewatch it some, but from what I remember, it was all that. Maybe I was just happy Marvel finally made a good film after two atrocious ones, but I just thought it was amazing and probably the best MCU movie (not the best comic movie of 2014 though).

Gman gave it a 5star and after I watched it I was like "that was a 5star?" Then I was like "I guess youjust have to be a cap/marvel comic fan to love it that much... :/ "

I still prefer Iron Man to be honest, but it was an awesome film, no doubt. Maybe after a few rewatches it will go up in my estimations.

It was the best Marvel Studios film since Iron Man. Though, I liked X-Men: DOFP more.

I kinda feel the same way. After I saw it, I was in love, but the longer I waited, the more time I thought about it, and the more flaws I found in it, I agree it needed more Winter Soldier, and some of it felt kinda dull (Widow and Cap having exposition told to them by Zola at the military bunker). But I still really, really like the film. Though, to me, Falcon was still lame in this film, he didn't really do much but fly around and shoot at stuff.

Why do people keep complaining about the amount of Winter Soldier in the movie when he wasn't featured much at all in the original Winter Soldier storyline(Predominantly with mysterious close ups hiding his face?

Cap 2 was great, by far the best MCU movie, and imo, up there with TDK and Watchmen, but 3 isn't going to do as well as BvS.

Idk whether or not I like Winter Soldier or DoFP better.

I'll back the Winter Soldier praise. I do think the next one will most likely be over-shadowed by Man of Steel 2, though. Even if it's nothing spectacular it's Batman and Superman in the same movie. I doubt Cap. 3 will be as big a hit.

@saint_wildcard: Fool! Based on what? Your banking on the attraction of two characters and not the actual content of the film as the bases that the film will be successful. On the other hand, Captain America 2 was successful because of it's content. Cap was always a joke in the eyes of none comic book readers, and after the first two films people have come to respect the character, and have enjoyed the character development from Cap 1, The Avengers and now Cap 2. The film's content has shown Cap to be a important character and how much of a bad@ss he and the Winter Soldier can be. Fans are going to be getting more of this type of development in the third film. The BvS superman is UNKNOWN, so saying that it will be successful based just on the characters and not the content is weaksauce.

Of course it was all that. Best phase 2 movie so far, but that's not saying much since Iron Man 3 was merely ok (IMO) and Thor 2 was crap (again IMO).

Yep. I thought it was all that. And I'm not at all a fan of Cap as a character, so it really surprised me. I expected to like Thor 2 much more. Avengers was great, but Cap 2 still beats it.

Brilliant, brilliant film.

CBM of the year IMO. DOFP was initially, but after watching both films an equal amount of time (3 times in the cinema, 4 with bootlegged :P), Cap 2 just comes out on top.
