I was looking around for a movie, on Netflix, the other day when I saw Adam West's Batman movie was available to play instantly. So, having nothing else to do, I decided to give it whirl...... It was funny as a comedy. In a I-can't-believe-they-actually-made-this-movie, kind of way. I mean, the guy that played Joker didn't even shave his mustache for the role! They just put the makeup on over it!

But the scary part was: I couldn't quite tell if it was an actual movie or a failed plot by someone to ruin Batman's reputation forever...

That movie is from the 60's. You can't expect Nolanverse quality.

The Adam West show and movie were meant to be campy. People didn't take super heroes and fiction overly serious like they do now.....it was supposed to be fun.

Oh, I didn't expect it would be. But..

But Shark replant bats-spray? The exploding octopus plot?

Running around with the bomb and not just throwing it over the side of the dock because of ducks? :P

@battle_forum_junkie: Batman can't kill the ducks. It goes against his morals of not killing. Bat-Spray is an iconic part of Batman's weaponry. I don't recall The exploding octopus. The true stupidity is that P.N. Guin bought a nuclear submarine without leaving any information about himself except for his last name and first two initials.

Yeah, they where going to launch Batman thou a window, via Joker's Jack the box, and into the arms of Penguin's exploding octopus.

Like I said, It was a fun movie, I was just wondering if it was meant to be serous or not.

It's hilarious how people judge something like the Silver Age Batman by modern day standards.

Different times people, different times.

You're asking if Adam West's Batman was supposed to be a comedy.

Adam West's Batman.

The one with a villain played by Vincent Price named Egghead.

The one where Cesar Romero just slapped the Joker face paint on over his mustache.

The one where bombs were actually big, round cartoon-style bombs with wicks.

The one that brought us the Bat-Tusi.

..............

Yes. Yes it was a comedy.

It was also complete and utter awesome of the highest magnitude.

It was one of the most accurate portrayals of Batman. Seriously; have you read Silver Age comics? Not much different.

The Adam West Batman was the origin of the "prep-god".

Additionally, Batman wasn't half as popular back then as he is now, that show brought him into the mainstream again.

So while it was campy and corny as Hell, it saved Batman in a lot of ways, and gave Miller the chance to write The Dark Knight Returns.

I watched it recently too and I was creaming "what the hell was that!" every 5 min. The movie was loaded with stupid moments, but in all fairness, it was the 60s.
