PETA attacks Nintendo and Mario over Tanooki Suit? Really?

#1 Posted by alphaomegasin (23 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago - Show Bio

They really did. You would think a group as big as them with a budget of over 30 million annually they would try using their resources to actually help animals rather than attack something without much reasoning and then make a morbid flash game out of it.....naturally I had to step up and give my two cents on the matter since it's pretty messed up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5dk32mUpzg Oddly not the first game they have done this to. The overlord games, super meatboy, world of warcraft are just a few they have attacked within the past couple of years

PETA disgusts me. I feel like if children can understand that it's make believe, adults should be able to as well. It's not like Mario's going around skinning helpless tanuki for his powers. The idea that they suggest it's what Mario is doing (wearing the skin) is ridiculous. I suppose in Super Mario Bros. 3 for the frog suit, he was wearing frog skin? -_-

The purpose of the Tanooki Suit in Mario was that it was based on Japanese mythology in which tanuki could use leaves to shape shift and use magic. PETA shouldn't be allowed to attack anything anymore.

PETA really does things to improve the treatment to Animals, don't they? There's the fight against killing a virtual rat.. Then this. They really are making the world a better place. Such thinkers. Such logical and practical people! Since they are so good, I think I want to treat them to a lovely dinner at Outback Steakhouse.

They're against animal research that can and have saved human lives. That's much crazier than being against a video game.

Funny thing is that their vice president is a diabetic who uses insulin created through animal research and made from genetically modified pigs.

Really ? They're more concerned about a raccoon suit in a Mario game than poaching and dog fighting ? I always thought PETA was crazy, but this is taking it to a whole new level.

Not surprising really, they also attacked Cooking Mama at one point.

This is why no one takes this group seriously anymore.

They took Obama to task for killing a fly. I would catch a spider and take it outside but I would kill a fly on the spot (as well as a mosquito, cockroach, flea or tick). One word people: maggots!

PETA have some pretty extreme beliefs about animals. They see pet ownership as slavery and believe anything tested on animals should be banned or at least boycotted, including life-saving treatments like insulin for diabetics. The majority of their donors are meat-eating pet owners who think PETA is just an organization dedicated to ending animal cruelty and are unaware that PETA actually preaches equating animal life with human life. I think they are an example of an organization taking a good cause too far. Kind of like how MADD turned into a neo-prohibitionist organization.

...And yet they have nothing to say about stomping and hammer throwing turtles. Lol, PETA, you so crazy.

I bet PETA had a freaking heart attack when Red Dead Redemption came out. After all, you get to hunt down bears and mountain lions, kill them, skin them, and sell their meat and organs for cash. oh, wait, PETA didn't say ANYTHING about RDD. But yet Mario is the most inhumane monster ever because he eats leaves. PETA sickens me...

I'm not buying that it was a joke.

Even if it was, the fact that everyone thought they legitimately were complaining says quite a bit about popular opinion of their organization.

oh hahahah this was too funny

This is why nobody takes peta seriously

They even made a game where a player controls an raccon trying to get his fur back from mario

It's so disturbing.

As a Peta Member, I find this to be a bit overboard.

Tanooki, a suit, bothers them, yet consuming smiling stars and jumping on turtles for 99 1ups doesn't make them flinch. It's hypocrisy.

I just played that game and was pretty disturbed. The ending was funny though.
