alright I am relatively new to comics and while my collection has a lot of Marvel and DC comics(a crapload of Wolverine) I have been wanting to expand into other companies. I have read some Darkhorse and Image stuff but not much. So question is can anyone refer me any good characters/books/story arcs that are not DC/Marvel? any suggestion will help and thanks in advance

@TheAmazingImmortalMan: Issuen 80 is a good starting point that's when Ron Marz took over and the series improved dramatically in quality (thought the first issues are easy to get and they're barely over 150 issues total, not including crossovers). Hellboy is awesome and I can't recommend anything less then starting with issue 1. The trades are very easy to get and there are not that many issues to go through.

I enjoy The Walking Dead. I don't know if it is what you will like, but good story. Valiant has some good titles.

@TheAmazingImmortalMan:

The Sword (Complete)

Morning Glories (At issue 21)

Witchblade plus Artifacts. Witchblade omnibus there are two. One collects from 1-50 the other from 51-100

Invincible

Buffy Season 8 cont in season 9

Y: The Last Man (Complete)

Most of these Independent titles should have huge a omnibus for you to catch up quicker in fact Buffy Season 8 omnibus was released not too long ago.

@TheAmazingImmortalMan:

Sweet Tooth and Fables are my fave non-marvel/dc books.

i also recommend Hellboy, B.P.R.D. (if you read hellboy from the beginning there's an obvious point at which bprd spins off and then runs alongside it) and Walking Dead (there's a huge walking dead compendium you can get which has the 1st 48 issues in it!)

and Y: The Last Man is def worth and read, and the series is finished so you can read it in it's entirety :)
