One Million Moms vs X-men : Gay edition - Gen. Discussion

In the aftermath of the news of two gay marvel characters being set to wed, a band of middle-age desperate housewives, One Million Moms, are campaging to urge marvel to stop this disgrace. “Children desire to be just like superheroes,” FALSE!!! Children desire to be reality tv stars. “Children mimic superhero actions and even dress up in costumes to resemble these characters as much as possible." Yeah I know what you mean cuz everyday I see darn seven-year olds beating up bad guys with heat vision just like superman. "Can you imagine little boys saying, ‘I want a boyfriend or husband like X-Men?’ This is ridiculous!" Can you imagine kids reading and buying comic books today? "As Christians, we know that homosexuality is a sin." You guys get the picture by now. Other than that just discuss your opinions on this evil Marvel has brought upon the many MANY kids who read comics.

Marvel is sooooooo evil... They're exposing the innocent children to the existence of the homosexuals! Everybody knows God didn't create the gays. Oh no they're not humans at all. How would the kids be confused, because it's either you like the same sex or you don't. And those comics have age limits too, so if parents don't want their children to see homosexual relationships displayed in comics then don't buy them comics that are intended for a more mature audience.

Want to know what is graphic? Murder... you know? The thing that happens all the time in comic books.

Why is being gay worse than that? If they wanted to protest something to "protect" their children, then why not protest violence or sexism or something that makes some sort of sense. I would understand these people better, if they just took the goddamn time to look at their hypocrisy and how stupid and unreasonable they are being.

@SyIar: Its a perversion, would u expose Your kids to pornographic material??? let alone the sexual lust of same sexes indulging in this way? Then allow your children to be exposed to it? It could happen, while children are young its a crucial time for the socialization process to begin. Although I agree that mothers don't have to buy the comic in the first place...

And if they do it's their choice and the mothers should respect that instead of basing their views on homosexuality on the quote "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.." Besides the X-Men comic it's published in is more for the teenage reader upwards than for children so I wouldn't be buying the comic in the first place.

I don't think I said a child would become gay. I said that a child may become confused. Before you give me the example that you weren't confused about being a murderer, let me point something out. There is a big difference between the two.

The line that is drawn between what parents want their kids to see growing up depends on the parent. In this case there is an overwhelming amount of parents who don't want their kids exposed to Gay marriage. The reason is either because they think homosexuality is a sin or they don't want their kid confused about sexuality. I'll give the moms the benefit of the doubt and say discrimination isn't involved. X-men are made for an older audience... but we all know kids give two $hits about a maturity rating. If i had a son or daughter which could happen, I am a family man... i would side with the moms here I wouldn't want him or her confused about the issue.

I hope we all can carry on this discussion without too much controversy. You can be entitled to your opinion about homosexuality, but refrain from saying anything derogatory or offensive as it could lead to things much worse.
