@The Stegman said:I don't think that popularity factors in. When you're looking at source material the Question undoubtedly has better material when it comes to books than Rorschach whether it be the original Steve Ditko strip or DC's relaunch with Dennis O'Neil, the Question is a much more complex character, IMO. Rorschach was a character created to cater to one story, based on the much larger character of the Question, who later, after Watchmen, grew under O'Neil's run.the QuestionI would absolutely love to see this (Vic's one of my all-time favorites and Renee's way up there), but I can see people getting confused because he's so similar to Rorschach. And yes, I know Rorschach is based on Vic, but Watchmen is way more popular than The Question will ever be.
The similarity shouldn't be that apparent. I mean, if we applied that logic then you wouldn't have Batman movies because you already had Zorro movies. While those two characters are linked and Batman is based on Zorro, Batman has deviated from that inspiration much like Rorschach, while based on Question, was different, and Question has also since been changed [if memory serves, Rorschach was ONLY based on Steve Ditko's Charlton Question, Dennis O'Neil's Question had no influence and I'm pretty sure that Rorschach came before DC implemented Question into their universe].
after JLA and JSA movies or after they establish many more comic characters and story arcs to the non comic book readers i think Blackest night/brightest day, infinite cris, crisis on infinte earths, hush (in a new batman series) or many great events in comic history would make great movies/ movie series
Lat I heard they had a director, Robert Rodriguez was co-producing it or something, and they had an actor picked.
And their idea would be to make it like Sin City, black and white and graphic, and then paint over like techno-color to make it Pop Art like and like Allred's comic.
I really cannot wait for this to come out. Madman would be awesome, I heard Allred's original script would have had too much in it because he was so excited to put everything on screen. So they pulled back, which probably means no Atomics just yet. But I could see them in the sequels, and who knows, maybe a spin off movie of their own.
A character i would LOVE to see get his own movie would be Ted Kord Blue Beetle, maybe along with Booster Gold. It could be like a buddy cop film with superheroes. A superhero, buddy cop, comedy, with superheroes.
Wesley Dodds, the Sandman. Just make a whole adaptation of Sandman Mystery Theatre. An if that doesn't work maybe HBO will take those letters I've been sending them demanding they adapt Sandman Mystery Theatre into a show more seriously.
The Spectre
Captain Comet
Jack Kirby's New Gods (Thor totally proved you could do it, and do it right, speaking aesthetically)
The Inhumans
The Justice Society
The Doom Patrol
Challengers of the Unknown
Captain Marvel
Green Arrow
X-23! (And not like they put people in the X-men movies with just one quick maximum of 5 seconds scene)
If it's the second they only mention that the character can't have been in a movie already once and it's in the video, so it would be easy to miss.
I have had lots of ideas on how to make a Wesley Dodds period mystery show.
My pitch of for a Sandman Mystery Theater (live action) tv series:
Its New York in 1940 something, (the show is a period piece)
Wesley Dodds is the son of the late wealthy investor Edward Dodds. He inherited his family's fortune.
He is married to Dian Dodds, (formerly Dian Belmont) the daughter of the district attorney and an author. They are newly married (a year or year and a half maybe), but she knows all about his secret life. They deeply love each other and often show it, and love working together, especially on cases.
But little does anyone suspect that Wesley and Dian have actually been secretly investigating and solving crimes, and that Wesley is New York's Sandman.
Wesley and Dian work together as detectives, solving serious crimes and mysteries (some that seem unnatural). They ask questions, Dian talks to people, Wesley contacts his friend on the police force, and Wesley takes it to the streets as the masked vigilante Sandman, using only his wits, his training he received during his time in the orient, and his supply of various gasses.
The show would be like one of those hour long murder mysteries, like Masterpiece Mystery with Miss Marple or Poirot, a period piece.
Like Smallville they would stay away, for the most part from super characters and stick mostly with non powered characters and more human crimes. Although the crimes or style of the criminals can become some what eccentric, where they wear a mask or somewhat of a costume with names like "the Butcher" or Dr. Death", the "Gambler" or the "Anarchist." But sometimes they are just criminals, gangsters, robbers, killers. A guy who hired some thugs to steal his insured statue for the insurance money and in the process got three people murdered.
Everyone on the show, if they actually wear costume would wear costumes and/or masks, but no powers and no super stuff like in the comics. More subdued and down to earth
Masterpiece Mysteries, a great example of how
the Sandman Mystery Theater TV series could look:
The stories would usually be resolved in an hour. Wesley is usually compelled by bad dreams sparking him to go solve crimes, the dreams wouldn't have the be a major part of the story however, not like he is only solving crimes until he stops having bad dreams, leaving the audience to wonder when he will finally stop having these bad dreams. The cast would include, Wesley and Dian of coarse, the friend on the police force that Wesley knows (who may know his secret identity), and various other friends and acquaintances. Maybe some rich friends, other cops or attorneys, someone who works for the newspaper, something like that. Shows would usually feature one case, and the episode would be titled after cases like Tarantula, etc. If the script called for it the show could even tackle such issues as sexism and racism.
The cost of the show, if I haven't already mentioned, could be very low, maybe no more than the cost of making other murder mystery shows. The stuff that might cost the most could be from the actors and maybe the nightmare effects for the sleep gas.
I also have ideas how to make a Four part New Gods (Fourth World) movie:
http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?t=287465
1. Deathlok
2. Darkhawk
3. the original Firestorm with the Prof
4. Static Shock
5. Starslayer
6. Doctor Strange
7. Green Arrow
8. Grimm Fairy Tales (Zenoscope)(Television Series Live-Action)
9. Cloak and Dagger
10. Morbius
ALL OF THEM!!!
The best movies have well written characters performed by talented actors.
A great casting director wouldn't hurt either.
I'd like to see:
- Black Panther
- Moon Knight
- Mr. Terrific (Michael Holt)
- Storm
- Brother Voodoo
- Wonder Woman
- Emma Frost (her own)
- WitchBlade
- She-Hulk
- Black Adam
Black Panther cause the director who were supposed to use wesley snipes, should keep the plan of making a Black Panther movie and just use someone else.
@Rudyftw: Because you don't like Nightwing or because he's already been in a Movie? If it's the second they only mention that the character can't have been in a movie already once and it's in the video, so it would be easy to miss.He was in a movie that made it to theaters? Batman and Robin doesn't count because that was still Robin. Are you talking about UTRH? Because I thought this was about live action movies. I don't think a lot of people would watch a movie focused on Nightwing. People who didn't read the comics would think he was a third rate Batman.
The Runaways would make a good movie.
Really? nobody suggested Transmetropolitan? Patrick Stewart has wanted to be Spider Jerusalem since the comic first published. Hell, Warren Ellis wants Captain Jean-Luc Picard to be the main character! sigh.
Also, Runaways would be a good possibility
i like all those suggestions....except for a few....i thought there was gonna be a magneto movie how about Magdalena from topcow ?
I would love to see another SUPERGIRL movie. However, a BETTER one. It needs to have a better villain, like Clayface, Powerboy, or Reactron. The Villain will need to be scary, violent, and intense. The movie will also need a better director, and producer. I think the director should be Joss Whedon, because of his success with Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
