Hey guys, we just rolled out a new notification system this afternoon. There are really two parts to the new system.
- Instant PM Notifications: You now receive instant PM notifications when somebody comments on your blog/image/etc, when somebody writes your wall, when you receive a friend request, and when you have a wiki submission approved. Each of these can be individually configured to be on or off from the Notification Preferences tab in your Profile Preferences.
- Roll-Up Email Notifications: Explained in detail below:
Roll-Up Email Notifications
The goal of these emails is keep you up to date with current activity happening around the site in a concise, short email roll-up that can be tailored to arrive daily, twice a week, once a week or never. We want these to be helpful updates of new content being posted to the site by your friends without being spammy or annoying.Some info about the emails:
- The notification emails will be a roll-up of activity that happened on the site since your last email
- You can set the emails to arrive daily, twice a week or once a week
Feedback we're looking for:
- We need to make sure that the emails arrive w/ the frequency you've selected. For instance, if you sign up for daily emails, we need to make sure that you're receiving daily emails.
- We need to make sure that all of the activity being sent to you actually pertains to you.
- We need to make sure that you can successfully modify your emails preferences.
The frequency of these emails can be configured by you in your notification preferences tab in your profile:
