New Avengers Volume #1/#2/Marvel Now

So Volume #1 and 2 are REALLY LONG about a 100 issues combined. Don't got that kind of time and money. So could I just start Marvel Now version as that's the new one, or is the Marvel Now version a continuation of Vol #1 and 2?

P.S. Earlier I posted about suggestions for good Marvel comics, and was told Avengers Vol 4. IS that the New Avengers (Marvel Now) edition?

Which avengers volume was the illuminati in? 1 or 2? Is it a good read?
