New 52 or Marvel NOW!(What comics are more interesting)

Got some cash to kill, and it's been awhile since i've picked up a comic. So I was wondering which batch of comics would you guys recommend I was think on getting Uncanny Avengers but I was also wondering whether or not it would be worth to get some Justice League books from the new 52. I haven't read any of these books yet so I was wondering where should I start out, and which ones are the most interesting story lines, and which are the better reads.

Thanks in advance

Easily I prefer the New 52. A good majority of them are amazing, while only Thor out of all of Marvel NOW! has impressed me.

In case you haven't heard, New 52 Batman is a huge deal. I recommend it highly. Scott Snyder is incredible.

Why not a little bit of both? I'm gonna recommend 5 DC and 5 Marvel. :)

DC

  1. I Vampire - It's only a 19 issue series. Get the trades and you'll be praising the book in no time :D
  2. Swamp Thing - Scott Snyder's writing this and it's one of the best rated books on the Internet
  3. Animal Man - This ties extremely close to Swamp Thing.Don't bother getting either of these 2 titles if you're not going to read the other though. It's totally worth getting both though.
  4. Earth 2 - You pretty have an entire world in your hands with this book. It's set in its own universe so no pesky crossovers.
  5. Flash - This series does not get enough praise. Definitely the best art in the new 52 and the arcs tie in together perfectly.

Marvel

  1. Hawkeye - This is a feel good comic, man. It's impossible not to come out of reading this disappointed. Matt Fraction is killing it.
  2. Indestructible Hulk - Mark Waid is the God of Dialogue.
  3. Fantastic Four - Matt Fraction is reaching his peak at Marvel. He's really been pushing out a lot of great work recently.
  4. FF - This is Fantastic Four's sister book so don't read Fantastic Four unless you're gonna read this too. That's not a bad thing though because this book is even better than Fantastic Four. :D
  5. Superior Spider-Man - This is a huge turning point in Spider-Man's life but you will be entirely confused if you don't read Amazing Spider-Man 698-700 first.

Other books you should look into

  1. Green Arrow - Jeff Lemire is taking over at issue 17 and it looks like it's going to be a great run
  2. Mind the Gap - Image Comics have been killing it and the majority of their recent titles have been a lot better than the DC and Marvel books coming out these days.
  3. Saga - Another great Image title. Sci-fi at its best
  4. Fatale - seriously, bro... Image is where it's at.
  5. The Manhattan Projects - Dude... Image

I've been enjoying a lot more of the Marvel Now stuff than the New 52 stuff...just because Marvel Now didn't wipe decades of history away and a lot of the creative team changes have turned out really awesome

Marvel for me. Daredevil, New Avengers, Thor, Hulk and Hawkeye are easily in my top10 right now.

Mainly depends on what you like, I enjoy the New 52 and Marvel Now!... I recommend Superior Spiderman or Thor from marvel (If you're an Xmen fan go with All new xmen or uncanny xforce) with DC go for Batman, Allstar Western or maybe starting out with Green Arrow 17 (new writer and seems very good so far)

I'm a life long Marvel fan but I'm liking them them less and less. Unless you're willing to shell out for all of Marvel's cross-over events you're better with DC's 52.

Maybe you should try Guardians of the Galaxy and Nova. Both of them would start in issue #1 this february. And also, Guardians of the galaxy will have a upcoming movie next year.

Take your pick...

Anything is better than the New 52.

It doesn't take much to outdo that quality.

As a jumping on point I prefer the New 52. Marvel NOW isn't bad it's just a banner on the books, not really anything all that new.

Not that Death of the Family has been particularly wallet-friendly :P

I can't speak to which is more interesting, but I've preferred New 52 (I'm relatively new to both DC and Marvel, and actually grew up with a Marvel bias, so maybe that says something). New 52 will be easier to jump into because it's a complete reboot, whereas Marvel NOW has baggage galore and may still confuse you. Of the DC titles, the one I can without any hesitation recommend is indeed Snyder's Batman.

I think the New 52 has better stories, and better organization.
