My current Pull list is:
Johns' Aquaman and Justice League are both recommended. His Aquaman has been consistently strong, with fantastic art, and it looks as though he's gonna build the character and his mythology up - much like he did with GL. His Justice League was unbelievably weak in the first two arcs, but once Throne of Atlantis started, I'm actually really digging it. It helps to have awesome Ivan Reis art as well.
I also recommend Hickman's Avengers & New Avengers. The two are almost like companion pieces to one another, but very different as well. The former is epic, large-scale battles with a 18-man roster. The latter is a dark, soul-sucking meeting of Marvel's most influential superhumans as they try to stop doomsday. Both are fantastic!
Others that I have not read but which have had critical acclaim include Matt Fraction's Hawkeye and China Mieville's Dial H.
Marvel- Thor, Hawkeye, and Journey into Mystery are nice. Scarlet Spider and Venom are also good picks if you enjoy Spider-Man.
DC- F*** if I know, but hey Dial H is suppose to be good and it needs more readers so pick that up.
Other- X-O Manowar, Saga, and lots of webcomics(Vattu is the best ongoing one I'm reading) are good picks.
All New X men, The new Green arrow out this week and if you like Superior Spider-Man (like me) I would highly recommend the latest issues of avenging Spider-Man.
Marvel: Hawkeye, Thor: God of Thunder, Scarlet Spider
DC: Its hard to reccomend right now because of the crossovers
@CastleEcho:
On the Marvel side of the street there have been some really fun titles.
I highly recommend Daredevil and Hawkeye. Both are easy to jump into and aren't terribly far into their runs if you want to catch up. Neither series is super heavy or dark, so they're a good antidote to some of the more extreme things out there.
Wolverine and the X-Men has also been really great, but I haven't been head over heels for the current arc.
If you want to read a recent but complete series, the first volume of Uncanny X-Force was spectacular. The gist of it is, what happens when a group of X-Men decide that the ends justify the means...and what's the fallout. Great stuff, but pretty grim at times.
On the DC side of the street, the Flash has been a lot of fun for me.
If you're looking to branch out of the super hero genera, there are a lot of other great series I could recommend but I'll stick to this for now.
