I'm compiling a list of stuff I want to use my prize gift card on, and here's what I have:

  • Animal Man: Vol 1

  • Animal Man: Vol 2 - Origin of the Species

  • Animal Man: Vol 3 - Deus Ex Machina

  • Modern Masters 10: Kevin Maguire

  • Justice League: A New Beginning

Pre-Ordering:

  • All-Star Superman: Vol 1

  • Planet Hulk Hardcover

The Planet Hulk HC is 34% off, bringing it down to $26, and I really want to get that. Plus it'll get here one week after WWH starts, so I'll be all prepared.

Unfortunately, all of this comes out to $101.93, so I need to drop something.

That Planet Hulk Hardcover sounds good. Especially for only $26. You should get it all and handle the extra $1.93 yourself.

The Animal Man's are must-haves...

The other two non pre-orders I wouldn't know.

G-Man says:

"All Star Superman's been decent. The stories can be fun. Some better than others. I liked the last one that came out, issue 6. http://image.comicvine.com/uploads/vol/19000/18139/18139-106280-1-all-star-superman_400.jpg" />http://image.comicvine.com/uploads/vol/19000/18139/18139-106280-1-all-star-superman_400.jpg">http://image.comicvine.com/uploads/vol/19000/18139/18139-106280-1-all-star-superman_400.jpg But it's not necessarily crucial reading.Animal Man? Don't know too much about him. I read a few back in the 90s but it never really had a huge impact on me. Maybe you should just scrape the $1.93 together. That'd be a heckuva buy for two bucks."

Yeah, I'm gonna' just cover that myself.

About Supes, I've heard such phenomenal things about the series that I just had to get it. I love Morrison (hence the Animal Man stuff from the 80s), and Quitely's art is amazing.

Haha, about All-Star Bats and Robin, there was a DC Panel at NYCC where Dan DiDio asked the panel:

"Have any of you read All-Star Batman and Robin?"

Paul Dini: "When I was a kid."

Yeah, it's good. Great? Maybe. Better than a lot of Supes stuff lately. Not being bound to continuity makes for some fun stories. If you compare it to All Star Batman and Robin, it'd gold. A collected trade would be good to have. A good way to try to get a non-comic reading friend into comics (if you can trust them to handle the book properly and not crease it).

No?

As an aside, I'm also going to be buying Doom Patrol Vol. 1. I think I'm going Morrison crazy.

Looks like some good reading. Those old Animal Man's were good. Nothing wrong with going Morrison crazy. The Planet Hulk story has been one of the best in recent times. Just my $.02
