In the world of comics anything is possible. You can swing above roof tops striking fear into the villains of your city. You can fly and travel at the speed of light or even be a God. But are they relatable?

One of my favourite characters is Ironman...

...but I don't find him very relatable, because I can't build a suit that flies or I'm not and never will be a billionaire. No,what makes a character relatable to me is a character that touches your soul. A character that might be going through the things you are or reacts in the way you would.

My most relatable character is Jamie Madrox,The Multiple Man.

What makes him relatable for me is actually how flawed he is. He has the power to make a hundred of himself and defeat any threat but when it comes to decisions he just doesn't have the answer. He has faced tragedy after tragedy, but what makes him such an inspirational character is the fact that he always finds a sense of humour in it.

I've personally been through tragedy after tragedy. I was bullied in school both physically and mentally. I had my head split open after one of them rammed my head off the corner of a steel locker. Then I moved to a new one where I got on fine until I injured my arm. I've just come out of hospital after a year of pain yet I still don't have the use of my arm back but it's characters like Jamie Madrox that inspire me to have a sense of humour about it.

So here's my question to you. Who's your most relatable character and why? And what's your most favourite moment by them?

I honestly don't find Spider-Man relatable. Especially in this day and age where many nerds like him in schools don't exist anymore.

Depends on the person, but for me, it's Clark Kent, at least, I'm more similar to him than any other.

It can be a number of different characters.

People need to read the post. He asked who is the character you relate to most?

For me, it's Tim Drake. People don't agree with my actions sometimes, I over-think things, I often barricade myself from other people if I'm dealing with a problem (mostly out of consideration, as in, I don't want to burden them with my problems). I wish I was as intelligent as Tim, but nevertheless, I'm independent and I have no problem running off to deal with things on my own.

Plus, I'm a hit with the ladies, as Tim clearly is. xD

Wow!!!

I never experienced physical bullying and from what I hear from you...

I feel sad people do such things...

The billions of innocent bystanders in comic books.

#10 Posted by Irishlad (548 posts) - - Show Bio

thanks I appreciate it.

Who is your most relatable character by the way? xD

#11 Posted by They Killed Cap! (2243 posts) - - Show Bio

I think one of the most relatable charecters would have to be Spider-man. He has so many every day real life issues.

#12 Posted by TheCannon (16085 posts) - - Show Bio

Tough one. Not that many are relatable. I'll say Spider-man

#13 Posted by ratman19 (525 posts) - - Show Bio

i dont find spidey all that relatable eiter. hes supposed to be a nerd but he somehow always gets the hottest girl in the school. and hes extremely smart. i find clark kent to be the most relatable

Question(Vic) is relatable to the average person. He doesn't have super powers, he doesn't have all this fancy gadgets and tech, hes not a master at everything, he just relies on himself and what he is capable of. Eh, but don't like repeating myself can look at my blog in my profile about him.

None, because I'm a grown man and I don't look up to imaginary characters............

Ok, I'm lying: Dick Grayson...I love you, Nightwing. We're the same person.

10th Doctor goes for me. I can't explain it properly, but it seems to me the only imaginary persona I can easily relate to.

#29 Posted by Irishlad (548 posts) - - Show Bio

thank you and Moon Knight's a strange one any particular reason you relate to him?

#30 Posted by DoomDoomDoom (3900 posts) - - Show Bio

@Irishlad: No problem, I relate to Moon Knight in the fact that he doesn't go it alone like some heroes do. He has friends like Frenchie and Ray Landers to help him out. I've always thought of MK as having a fractured psyche, I don't view Jake Lockley or Steven Grant as assumed identities or aliases. In my mind MK is a high-functioning individual with multiple personality disorder. I suffer from what most people would term a mental illness and rather than letting it define me or my life I fight against it and stay in control and use it to my advantage. I relate to MK because I view him as doing the same thing, using what many would deem a weakness in his favor....yet I still don't know what to make of the Bendis run haha.

@Irishlad: Gambit

we are always torn between the good and evil sides...

misunderstood!

#32 Posted by Cap10nate (1885 posts) - - Show Bio

Maybe its because I didn't start reading comics until I was already in my mid 20s but I have never really tried to relate to the characters. There are some that I absolutely love more than others but it is because their stories are well written and not because I can put myself in their shoes. Plus I think you can pick and choose certain characteristics from each hero and make them either relatable or completely unrelatable.

@The Stegman: ...how?

#34 Posted by The Stegman (20787 posts) - - Show Bio
@antemiusenteri: I share his same belief systems about right and wrong, the same love he has for his parents, how he tries to be a good person in a world that's cruel and harsh, how he tries to be nice to those around him at treat them with respect. He's just a nice guy, and most of the time anyway, I try to be too.

taskmaster, he is criminal like me

#38 Posted by minigunman123 (3116 posts) - - Show Bio

I'd probably go with Batman, Iron Man, Nightwing, Tim Drake, Ted Kord, and... Raven >_>

I'm closed off from family, I hate them, I wish they'd all go away. Yet I don't want to see them hurt (by me, anyway). I just don't want to interact with them much.

I enjoy people not knowing everything about me.

I'm smarter than people give me credit for.

I'm ridiculously independent, to a fault even (I refuse advice from my parents).

I have father issues (lul).

I've got plans for becoming rich, or at least rich-ish, and want to go to MIT; as well, I don't know what to study, all the fields I'm interested in are slightly similar though.

So yeah... Emotionally dark, tormented characters, and lonely eccentric geniuses are who I identify with.

Spider-Man. They made him to be someone that teens could relate to. He is a normal teen that lives in New York and has normal problems.

#40 Posted by Jorgevy (5114 posts) - - Show Bio

I dont relate to everything about a character but I relate a bit with every character I like, even if it's just one or two personality traits.

In terms of appearance and personality? Well, when I was younger, it was Jubilee Lee, but now I've mellowed out a bit, so I'm leaning more towards Cassandra Cain.

Probably Iron Fist minus being rich, but I prefer to look up to a character than relate to them.
