Arrogance is a common trait amongst villains. But I got to thinking out which heroes have this trait. Now, the line between arrogance and confidence can be razor thin, bit IMHO, two come to mind.

1) Batman: Has Worked with Gods/Demi-gods, heroes with universal experience (Like the Lanterns) and folks you have to assume are smarter than him (Ray Palmer), yet he still stubbornly insist things be done his way.

2) Reed Richards: Goes back to the inception of the FF when they named themselves. Two named themselves after their new-found power-set. (Human Torch, Invisible Girl) and one said "He was what Sue called him, a "Thing". What does Reed name himself? "Mr.Stretch"? Nope. "Elastic-man?" Nope. He goes with "Mr Fantastic" KInda says it all. (Point taken from a line Doom had during Waid's run on the FF.)

So, who else qualifies?

Namor for sure.

Mister Majestic.

@manwhohaseverything: I always found this funny. He kinda flipped off the rest of the four, despite the whole space flight disaster (which was a blessing in a very convincing disguise for Ben) being his fault. However, I do believe that this name works, for two reasons.

- He lives in a world of the "fantastic", more than most heroes.

- He is the patriarchal figure in Marvel's First Family/FF/Fantastic Four.

I guess Thor, SpOck for sure.

Guy, Namor, and Thor.

Naw, I wouldn't really say Thor is arrogant. He gives off a regal feel to him and at times can be brash/hot headed, but when I line up beside truly arrogant guys like a Namor or Spock I just don't see it.

Thats because he's a king! Nobody is allowed the privilege or honor to hear is beautiful voice!

@wolverine08: When compared to gods of arrogance like Namor.. Thor doesn't seem as arrogant if I think about it like that.

#22 Posted by DarthMummy (1870 posts) - - Show Bio

Every member of the Illuminati has been mentioned here except Dr. Strange, who was certainly an arrogant person back when he was a surgeon (and likely still is on some level).

#23 Edited by Wolverine08 (48124 posts) - - Show Bio

@dagmar_merrill: But I mean in general if you compare him to arrogant people, he really doesn't seem arrogant. He's always just felt passionate more than anything tbh.

@wolverine08: Yeah maybe a bit overly passionate at times. So Thor isn't arrogant after all.

Hmm, this is a tough one...

I'd pretty much list everyone who is super smart as the most logical tend to be the most arrogant... like Doom.

The Main Man

One story had Sue call Reed 'Mr. Fantastic' because of how smart and handy he was. When they got their powers, he remembered that and chose the name.

@granitesoldier: Same here. After reading Mighty Avengers I've come to the conclusion that SpOck is a bonafide dick.

He reminds me of some people I know who have the "I said it therefore it must be correct" disease. I always want to punch him in the jaw haha.

Wolverine. He calls himself "The Best There Is" which is as false a statement as has ever been spoken.
