I detest fans that are snotty and condascending, fans that think you are stupid for not liking the characters that they do, trendy "indie" readers who think that mainstream is sad or a joke, and other readers who belittle you when you can't state a specific issue #.

So, according to this thread, all I have to do is to create a teen ager who loves Thor, Storm and Batman to the bones and roots for Marvel or DC while he has never read any comics but only seen movies and I will have created the most evil/annoying fan in the World?

  • Those who complain about a lack of realism in comics.
  • The Marvel/DC fanboys that will endlessly fight over which company is better.
  • Fanboys in general.
  • Condescending elitists.
  • The fan that thinks their opinion is fact.
  • People who complain about characters they haven't even read.
  • Fans that try to shove their favorite character down your throat.

Those that make political statements insulting others, but don't have the balls or the brains to actually engage in an intellectual discussion.

For something more comic related, I've had a few annoying conversations with people who seem to have an encyclopedic knowledge of characters feats and believe that their interpretation of those feats and which feats are PIS is the holy doctrine from which all other thoughts should stem.

Nice.

I'm sure most, if not all of the kinds I'm listed have been stated before but I'd have to go for:

  1. The fan that doesn't allow for creative license when it comes to film, TV show, adaptations and the like. I don't get how they just don't get that characters have to made accessible to non-comic readers. They may also be called "purists." I guess you could say those who hate all kinds of change in general.
  2. The kind who bitch and moans about stale stories, lack of general creativity, crappy art, etc. but keeps buying the issues they rail against.
  3. Comic fans with absolutely no social skills
  4. Comic fans whose very voices are filled to bursting with condescension and loathing when having to deal with us "lower life forms."
  5. Die-hard fanboys who can't see past their blinding single-mindedness.
  6. Haughty collectors who scoff at those who don't get the so-called finer points of preservation.

1. Fans who get angry whenever their characters are being criticized.

2. Fans who get angry if you don't know a particular fact about a comic book series (especially if you're new to the comic book universe).

Ones that have to make a thread about every damn appearance of their favorite character.

-You see so and so appear on that video game preview?

-What do you think of so and so when he/she appeared in so and so's comic?

and so forth. I think everyone here knows who I'm talking about.

@Lost_Nomad: It's pretty diverse now. I usually don't pay attention to the battle threads till something weird (Pikachu vs. Popeye) catches my eye, but from what I gathered people simply post STOMPS till someone pays attention to them. No one in particular annoys me.

It was called the stormfanboys.

And fans don't cause trouble, fanboys do.

And everyone is bias, it's part of human nature. Otherwise, beliefs(religion, politics, heck, even battles or favorite characters) wouldn't exist.

Those 12 year olds who claim to be "comic book fans" but are actually just "Deadpool fans" and think that Deadpool is the best character ever created and that everything that is even remotely *breath* connected to Deadpool is a satirical masterpiece and that Deadpool can beat the crap out of Marvel Universe and DC Universe and any other verse combined with his *breath* hands tied behind his back and call you an idiot for thinking differently and most imprtantly they say that *breath* DC comics suck balls because they don't have Deadpool and that Superman is boring and OP and that Batman is *breath* a loser with no powers and all other DC characters are boring.

Yes, being a boy/girl under 14 years old who loves Deadpool necessarily means you hate DC comics.

I mean, my 13 y/o cousin once told me Deadpool could kill Lobo (I don't think he even knows who Lobo is), and he's one of the smartest kids I know.

Deadpool is like alcohol: it ruins you from the inside out if you're not mature enough to know how to handle it.

Are 1 and 4 supposed to be kind of the same thing? When I was getting into comics I didn't have the chance to read anything pre-90s for a long while. Doesn't mean I didn't want to.

No one and four are different. Some people read about the history of comics without actually reading the books and vice versa. The way you phrased you last statement It sounds like you did eventually read the older books. Right? You can read golden age books on the internet for free and almost every comic store has older books that are cheaper than the new ones. I have never once met a fan who couldn't have access to older books if they really wanted to read them.
