Poll Mortal Kombat (1995) or Mortal Kombat: Legacy? (28 votes)

Mortal Kombat (1995) 71%
Mortal Kombat: Legacy 29%

Which of the two adaptions of Mortal Kombat is better in your opinion?

Note: I don't count MK 95's god-awful sequel, Annihilation.

It definitely was one of the few video game movies ever made that was actually good.

Good, and faithful to the source material.

Yeah, but it still has brutal fights (that are very well choreographed) and fatalities.

MK '95. It wasn't great by any means but it felt appropriate enough for a Mortal Kombat movie and didn't deviate from the source material.

Legacy, more character development and more of a reason why they are fighting each other.

95 was brilliant. Respected the source material and tried to avoid a lot of CGI, which during the era was awful unless you had serious cash. I remember Street Fighter was around that era too...it was...I cannot remember, I needed a lot of therapy after that abortion of a film. We always used to say that the live action MK was brilliant and the animated awful and for Street Fighter the reverse was true. And as for DOA...it's better we just forget it.

I would love to see an update with some better visuals and choreography more like Crouching Tiger, more fluid.

I loved Legacy for what it was but I really appreciate Mortal Kombat 95 for just sticking to the source and doing it justice.

I personally couldn't stand how weak they made Raiden in Legacy

Legacy is too new school. They don't have that martial arts theme.

95 was more enjoyable. Legacy is just some guy trying to bank off contraversy in making MK something totally inverted from what it was. Season 2 was nice, but it felt low budget and it was disrespectful to the lore of MK. Not once did I get excited during the Legacy seasons, the character design was too gritty and too dark. The MK movie wasn't dark enough, there needs to be a nice balance. I'd rather have the tone of the 95 movie with some dark elements, rather than 100% dark and bland color patterns in Legacy with a crap tastic story that is worse than MKX.
