More Info on The New 52's Doomsday

Villain Month will hit our wallets extra hard in September and one of the exciting announcements is that Doomsday will get his very own issue. This will be the first time the man who punched Superman really, really, reaaaallllly hard will appear in the post-Flashpoint universe and today DC has offered a better look at his updated character design. If I had to take a guess, I'd say it seems like this version of the character likes to keep trophies.

"But who is Doomsday? In The New 52, the legends surrounding this character have become stories told to terrify Kryptonians. Nobody knows who created him, where he comes from, or even dares to utter his name louder than in a whisper. But are the various myths about what the Doomsday creature is real? Was he really let loose on an army? And if nobody knows the truth behind this villain’s origin, is there really a way to stop him?"

Written by Greg Pak and illustrated by Brett Booth, Doomsday's solo issue will go on sale September 25. Are you going to pick this one up, Viners?

I at least like the whole 'myth' behind Doomsday that the Kryptonian's created. The 'trophies' that Doomsday keeps is pretty cool though.

Man I wish he had that cool but weird white patches of hair. Death of superman should have taken best superman story...

Maybe in another 6 months they will do 52 sidekicks each with chromium variant covers.

I actually wouldn't mind that, it may be the chance to bring back donna and wally.

lol would somebody break the fingers of whoever the hell is redesigning characters. Everyone doesn't need an upgrade (well downgrade) to their character designs.

Ridiculous. A lot of the new designs have been shit in the New 52.

Reasons I dont like it: 1. Disney squid beard 2. Ugly (and unnecesary) rain clogs

3. Belted bike shorts pulled halfway up to his pecs 4. ridiculously oversized forearms

5. Hands (without sweet knuckle spikes) that could hold 4 or 5 of his miniscule heads

I liked Superdoom Better

Well at least we have an actor ready to play him in a love action, low budget movie

I think the arms are so big so as to distract the reader so they don't notice his massive feet.

I think it looks alright but the arms are way too big.

Oh god... it looks like the love child of Doomday, Solomon Grundy and Grey Hulk

Looks Horrible

Damn looks better than ever. Hope this new Doomsday is more than meets the eye.

I see it and think of a pre-Doomsday Doomsday, like an alpha or test version.

Horrible design for all the reasons everyone has mentioned on these comments. DC should be ashamed and embarrased for even considering this garbage as a design option in the first place. I will not pay even a penny for a comic with this character in it.

Damn his arms are so massive his body can't deal with the weight of them, hence why one of them looks like its tearing off. Fail. Dumbday!

He,s actually hunched over, so his arms appear bigger then they actually are.

He looks sick, i am definitely digging the new design.

He just looks like a rock covered Abomination, I prefer the old design.

Perspective still seems crazy out of wack. His feet are still nearly as massive and his head is still tiny.

Maybe the design could look better with a less wonky image but it really doesn't really make any interesting modifications to the characters old design IMO.

Personally my issue is more with the head, it's so small that is makes everything look messed up and not in a unsettling or interesting way.

It's the big reason the arms stick out as so strange.

Why would he needs shoes? Doomsday never had a good look. This version is junk. But I'm planning on buying it anyways
