Which of these two characters had the most iconic Death? And if you feel like it the most Iconic Return. Only Counting Jeans first Death and Ignoring the next few times.
More Iconic Death? Jason Todd or Jean Grey?
Jason because he stayed dead for awhile. Jean kept dying and coming back like 80 times over. It was nuts.
Not really. Jean Grey has only actually died once or twice.
Jean Greys death and the whole Dark Phoenix saga remains one of the X-Men franchises most recognizable, retold, and just overall indelible stories.
People outside of comic book fans have never even heard of Jason Todd. He was killed off in a poll by fans that hated him.
Jason Todd, the picture of Batman cradling Jason's dead body is very iconic and one of the most well known Batman moments

Ehh. I would argue the Cartoon Movie under the red hood did lots for his popularity. He is just as big a name as Jean Grey imho.

One animated movie that I am pretty sure mostly comic fans saw cannot equate to the exposure that Jean Grey has had. Which is including but not limited to the X-Men films and pretty much all the X-Men cartoons.
@riddlerzeroyear: I'm with you suprised Gwen isn't on here. And Jason Todd. Jean grey came back and died again.
@jayc1324: why?
@allstarsuperman: iirc it was just Superboy punching reality or something like that?

Yeah, why is that stupid?
@allstarsuperman: someone punching reality sounds all normal to you? Not only that but it wasnt even a story about jason. He was a side effect. Not a good way to bring him back. It was almost as an after thought. Superboy punched reality, and oh Jason is back.

I like it that way. Just cause your a street leveler doesn't mean high tier things can't happen to you. If Batman can go toe to toe with Darkseid, I fail to see a reason on why Jasons resurrection should be grounded, especially considering Batman absolutely insane resurrection under Morrison.
@allstarsuperman: I don't like it because its a ridiculous idea. Batman doesn't actually hurt or fight darkseid. but someone punching reality makes no sense, and its not even like a feat for Jason. It would've been better if he came back in his own story in a big moment. That crisis was a stupid story too. And batman never actually died.
@stormshadow_x: that's not even a resurrection, and that is what the omega sanction does. That's what Darkseid meant to do, not kill him.

Since when do comics have to make sense? If reality really took control of a story Bruce wayne would have grown up as a sulker and angry but never would have trained. If anything he would have just hired a hitman to take out Joe Chill, not waste his entire youth in training around the world.
It was a feat for Jason. While brain dead he: dug himself out of a casket, walked 13 miles, escaped a hospital, survived on the streets of Gotham for a year. Those are insane considering he was literally brain dead. While with Talia he took out League of Assassins ninja still while Brain Dead. Switching this out for the movies Lazarus Pit version would erase all these feats from happening.
@allstarsuperman: nothing is a nonsensical as punching reality. That shouldnt even exist.
Tons of people dug out of caskets. That part maybe be a feat but Superboy punching reality wasn't a feat is what i meant

No, its physically impossible. Not enough oxygen in the air, to much dirt on top of the casket to punch through, etc.
@allstarsuperman: lol batman dug out of one while in a straight jacket whole dehydrated
@jayc1324: Umm. He is Batman.
@stormshadow_x: I don't think so. Batman was about to shoot him, he was probably like "screw you I'm sending you back in time"
Jason's death is burned into my memories. Jean Grey died and came back too many times, she's one of big reasons I can't take deaths in comics seriously.
I like how people here got mad at how a character named the PHOENIX died and got resurrected. That's like getting mad at Mr. Immortal's ability to not die. And it only happened twice.
In any case, Jason Todd was a hated and boring character that no one gave two sh*ts about, that's why they killed him in the first place. Pheonix died in one of the greatest storylines in comic history. Not really a comparison here.
Has to be Jason Todd, was a better story arc IMO. Hell he was killed by the best ever comic book character.
People voted Jason dead. People actually cared about Jeans death.
The fact they voted to kill him off indicates that they DID care.
