Rumor has it Tyrese Gibson may not be playing John Stewart. WB/DC is thinking about going into a new direction with Green Lantern, by casting a woman, Michelle Rodriguez. How do you feel about this?
Michelle Rodriquez to cast as Green Lantern
@sodamyat: It's some low brow clickbait article.
Whenever the article title looks like a statement but ends with a question mark ignore it.

i usually do. its pretty easy to identify the stupid threads but i had to click on this one to say so.
she's a horrible actress and Jessica Cruz isn't that great of a character. also she isn't a green lantern she's power ring which is pretty much the only thing that they have established about her character at this point. she hasn't even been around for more than 12 issues and she will continue to be a side character in a loaded justice league roster. they are making a green lantern movie not a power ring movie. also at that point why not make up your own green lantern not from the comic books.

This is the actual source itself, just googled it, clear baseless clickbait.
@jayc1324: sexist
@allstarsuperman: Lol, but no.
Please no. I want a man as GL
What if it was a new character?

We should call in the mods and stop this crazyness thats been going on with these dc movie hate threads. This one doesnt show hate, but clearly is trying to rile people up.
@darthmummy: I'd still want a man. Kyle, Alan, Hal, Guy, John, Baz, all males. I know GL is one of those characters where you can have anyone be, but to me GL is a man.
@jayc1324: again, you're being sexist. What's next Wonder woman has to be a women? You're pathetic.
Please no
Feminist attack him!
:p
@allstarsuperman: OK that one doesn't even make sense. Of course wonder woman has to be a woman.
@jayc1324: typical male sexist
@allstarsuperman: I really hope you're joking.
@darthmummy: I'd still want a man. Kyle, Alan, Hal, Guy, John, Baz, all males. I know GL is one of those characters where you can have anyone be, but to me GL is a man.
Not just males. American males, for whatever reason. Sure, GL has always been a man, but theoretically that can change. Of course, it's cool that you have your own concept of just what a character should be. When we have people who think GL is just a guy with a ring, it loses its meaning.
@jayc1324: I'm not. Men on CV are sexist pigs apparently. All men should be forced to wear inhibitor collars that make them Woman's slave. Woman would rule the world way better then Men have failed hard. Be honest with this question, how would you feel if BatMAN was a black guy?
@allstarsuperman: Batman being black has to do with race, not sex. If I answer your question you will call me a racist too, I'm not falling into that trap.
Now, I'm sure some men are sexists, but wanting a character to be a man does not make you sexist. Sexism is prejudice or stereotyping or discrimination based on sex. Wanting Green Lantern to be a man does not fall into that definition. If I were to say that women should never be green lantern or that they aren't strong enough to be GL or that they don't deserve to be GL then you may have grounds to call me a sexist. But wanting DCCU GL to be a man does not. All the GL's I have ever read, minus Jessica Cruz (who I have no problem with), have been male, and that's what I wanna see on the big screen.
@sodamyat: let it all out.
@jayc1324: so you admit you're a racist? Because you know ill call you one?
@allstarsuperman: No, and that's enough of you accusing me of stuff.
@jayc1324: I'm just joking around, none if this was serious.
@allstarsuperman: Ah, well you're bad this lol
Nope.. I'm still anticipating the moment when they make a Female Thor movie..
Highly Unlikely.
So....are you guys upset that a particular character who is established as male could possibly be female, or that *a* green lantern could be written and cast as female. One isn't a big deal. The other kind of is.
Funny, I've always pictured Rodriguez as playing Renee Montoya in live-action. But that's probably never going to happen.
I'd be interested in seeing a female Green Lantern, so long as she's an original character rather than a gender-flipped John/Guy/Hal/Kyle. Go the Kaldur'ahm route and just show us an original character using the name of another hero(es) without simply retconning the other heroes' existence.
... Even if this was true, I have a really hard time picturing Rodriquez in anything where she isn't a though-nosed Hispanic that gets to use big guns during engagements.
