We know many of you out there miss Peter Parker, and clearly Marvel does, too. The House of Ideas has brought together an A-list team to create an original graphic novel for the true wall-crawler. Eisner Award Winning writers Mark Waid (DAREDEVIL), James Robinson (EARTH 2) and artist Gabriele Dell'otto (SECRET WAR) will join forces to send Spider-Man on a worldwide adventure in SPIDER-MAN: FAMILY BUSINESS. This original graphic novel will introduce Peter Parker's sister, Teresa. The book will revolve around Kingpin organizing a massive global crime syndicate and whether or not this previously unknown member of the Parker family could be an ally. Chatting with USA Today, Waid explained the story avoids Parker's continuity. He says this will help make it "a little more timeless" and "a little more outside-audience friendly." Check out some of Dell'otto's magnificent work below.

SPIDER-MAN: FAMILY BUSINESS comes out on April 2, 2014,

Well, it's a graphic novel, a ''What If" kind of thing right? So fans shouldn't be complaining too much about it.

This looks great. Hopefully it'll be successful enough to encourage Marvel to restore Peter as Spider-Man.

@the_stegman: According to CBR it is in continuity, before Amazing Spider-Man #700.

OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! I can't wait!

as much as I want this to be real and to see all of the fan backlash over Peter having a previously unknown sister I have a strong feeling that it's going to turn out that she's playing him for some sort of information

This is a change to the Spider-man comics that can be good story telling. I am excited! I will definitely be buying this graphic novel

Wish I knew where to begin with Spidey comics. So confused :/

With the amount of s*** that has been in spidey's cannon since the 90's, I doubt this story can even qualify for stupid.

Here's the article where Waide explains it - Newsarama

And to answer the $64,000 dollar question, Family Business is set before the events of Superior Spider-Man. So the story will be pure Peter Parker “to make it a "a little more outside-audience friendly," Waid explained.

not a big of the art . as a cover sure but past that ... no thank you

great news, more spidey is always "good" and hopefully it'll calm the spOck haters just a bit.

O_O I'll check this out, since it's not involved with the current spidey continuity. Nice to see James get a big project so soon out of the DC gate.

It takes a real man to where a print shirt like that...

Wow @ the creative team. I will admit not knowing much about Dell'otto but DAMN that preview! I love everything by Waid. Marvel should put Robinson on an Ultimates comic if he'd do it.

#24 Posted by Perfect 10 (983 posts) - - Show Bio

hope she is badass. love the painted art of these graphic novels! so excited

#25 Edited by Wolverine08 (38996 posts) - - Show Bio

Can't wait! Waid should be on the main Spider Man series, not Dan Slott.

#26 Edited by Trevel8182 (751 posts) - - Show Bio

I love Mark Waid but he is a terrible Spider-Man writer.

I read the article and this is what I got:

Blah, blah, blah... James Robinson... Blah, blah, blah... Peter Parker's sister, Teresa(?!?!?!)... Blah, blah, blah... timeless(?)

Color me confused!

Overall this sounds pretty cool but I hope This is just the start for James at marvel

#29 Posted by Teerack (5423 posts) - - Show Bio

Omg this is the best news ever, but I really hope this story is about Peter and not Spock.

#30 Posted by Miss_Garrick (1757 posts) - - Show Bio

Well, at least they picked a nice name for this "sister". Not something obvious stupid like Mary (peter's mom) or Sarah (Gwen's daughter) etc.

#31 Posted by Zeeguy91 (1101 posts) - - Show Bio

I might have to get this. I've been missing me some Spider-Man lately.

#32 Posted by Teerack (5423 posts) - - Show Bio

It be funny is she liked Kain or Ben a lot more then Peter lol.

#33 Edited by ekrolo (431 posts) - - Show Bio

@the_stegman: Its in continuity so let the bitching commence.

But by the time this book comes out I will have long forgotten this announcement.

AWESOME!!! Definitely excited for this!

Who do you think is a good spider-man writer

#43 Posted by Mutant God (3020 posts) - - Show Bio

it could make sense because the Parkers were spies for SHIELD I think or if she was his half-sister

#44 Edited by Mezmero (898 posts) - - Show Bio

Hmmm. Can't really say I'm itching to read yet another Peter Parker story but I'll be sure to listen for the impressions from the CV staff. I do respect this particular group of talent so I'm sure there's something to it. It makes sense to have a super group go after Kingpin if he's going global in this story. He has always been a very well spread entity in the Marvel New York-iverse so seeing him on a bigger scale is an interesting proposition to me.

@frogdog: Stan Lee, Marv Wolfman, Gerry Conway, Tom DeFalco, JMS, Brian Michael Bendis,

J.M. DeMatties, Roger Stern, Matt Fraction, David Michelinie, Peter David and sometimes Jeph Loeb.

Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb! We know who Peter Parker is, we know his story, and it's a good story. Why do companies feel the constant need to go back in and mess with the past instead of taking the characters forward. I would take a hundred Brand New Days with a Superior Spider-Man thrown in before I would ever want to see a spider-sister in continuity. And while Waid and Robinson are both great writers they have both written plenty of duds over the years as well. This really feels like one of them. Did I mention this idea was stupid?
