I don't think anyone can tell which one will be the better movie yet (I hope it's Superman) but my money for which movie rakes the most $ is on Iron Man.
Btw I voted for Iron Man.

Neither film would be worth going to see in the theater...in fact no film for years has been worth going to the local theater to watch the garbage Hollywood's been making...

In terms of financial success, Man of Steel will probably take it due to all of its hype, and the first in the reboot of the Superman movie series. Iron Man looks promising, but its the third movie and most people may not have the same hype. For now it both seems like they have darker themes, but its hard to pinpoint which one will will be better plot-wise.

Man of Steel...hopefully.

After the success of Avengers and the re-igniting of popularity for Tony Stark I think Iron Man 3 is going to take home the most money. However, based solely on what we've seen of the two films in trailers, I think Superman will be the surprise better film because of the twists and new takes to the material while combining the many timeperiods and origin elements of the Man of Steel....which ironically was one of the elements that made Iron Man so successful even though Marvel wasn't able to fully capture that magic in other films.

Iron Man 3 will do better financially, but I think that Man of Steel is really starting to look like a high quality film.

My vote goes to MoS, though I might be a bit biased.

Ah, more of the movies made outside of the US are the best... But these are some good ones, not masterpieces, but good movies:

Inception

Lawless

Shutter Island

Social Network

Hugo

Prometheus

Black Swan

There will be Blood

Bad Lt.

Driver

Financially, Iron Man 3 will do much better.

For which will be the better movie, I'm not sure. We've gotten two great Iron Man movies, proving that the cast is good and the creators can make a good Iron Man movie. However, look at how many franchises are killed by the third movie (only Spider-Man and X-men weren't). Iron Man 3 looks like it's going to have too much in it, which is always a bad sign. However, DC does not have a good track record with making good movies. Other than the Burton Batman movies and the Nolan Batman movies, they haven't made anything good (Superman was okay. Superman II was pretty good, but nothing special). However, it was written by the guy that wrote the second greatest superhero movie of all time, The Dark Knight Rises, so he can write a good movie. And Superman has a good costume (hard to find), while Iron Man 3 has the stupid Iron Patriot costume. and Norman Osborn isn't even in the film.

I'll vote Iron Man 3.

Man of Steel will be better.

In the wake of how awesome "The Avengers" was, Iron Man will suffer in comparison and therefore be outshone by "Man of Steel."

While I'm looking forward to both films, probably IM3 more, I do feel that Man of Steel will steal the show when it comes to comic book movies this year.

Man of Steel should be more successful mostly due to the fact that people might get tired of Iron Man over and over again and a new Supes movie will be different.

Superman has a strong following behind it as far as the core fans go and i would expect that first two weeks to be huge in the movies favor, but in the long run? i see iron man carrying a strong lead. If WB was more diligent with releasing DC themed films to keep the name brand in common talk like marvel has i would be more inclined to think superman has a strong chance. but IM is going to have that name everywhere... and Disney wont let any of us forget it. If WB wanted to make MoS a hit, id personally suggest releasing the week after Comic Con. At CC2013 show the fans your working on justice league then promote the shit out of MoS for the following week, if they do not have anything huge to announce at CC2013 after the release of MoS all the wind in the sails is going back to marvel when they drop Thor and Capt on us for starters, then Antman/wasp, guardians of the galaxy and five other huge projects just waiting for the light of day, oh and then just to make sure no one is thinking about what WB is doing... Avengers 2.

In the end, i will be going to both midnight's grinning from ear to ear.

I'm not sure at this point. I do think the expectations for MOS are a LOT higher than they are for Iron Man 3.

#34 Posted by Eternal19 (1416 posts) - 4 months, 26 days ago - Show Bio

Man of steel. It might even make more money to, because......

1. Its superman( Iron man may have been in the avengers, but he is nowhere near the iconic status of superman)

2. Christopher Nolan is putting his name all over the movie and fans of the batman movies will probably go to see it.

3. Cooler Trailer

I hope they are both good. I am wanting Man of Steel to be a little better, because after Superman returns Superman needs some redemption.

You know what, this might actually turn out to be true,God I hope not.I'm looking immensely forward to IM3.

I think MOS would probably get more critical acclaim but IM3 will likely win out the box office. But yeah the Avengers success could turn out to be a double edged sword.Same kinda happened with TDK and TDKR.

Going by "track records" I have to say Iron Man 3 has the best chance of being the better movie. WB/DC haven't really put out a very good Supes movie in a LOOOOOOONNNG time. Where as Iron Man has been money in all the films he appeared in. Even Iron Man 2 was still a good movie despite being the weakest of all the films he appears in. I don't have much faith in WB/DC outside of Batman movies at this point. I'll have to revisit this thread once I've seen both tho.....Here's hoping the Man of Steel brings WB/DC back in the game tho, cause they are getting crushed imo

Inception.

And just because you say a film isn't worth seeing doesn't make it so. Earth-shattering, I know...but you are wrong.

Everything I see about Iron Man 3 give me confidence. I cannot say the same of Man of Steel. I've trusted Zack Snyder too many times at this point to ever give him the benefit of the doubt again. Even if both movies are excellent, I care way more about Iron Man as a character.

#48 Posted by Sharkbite (252 posts) - 3 months, 18 days ago - Show Bio

Looking back, Superman movies kinda blow. Smallville is the best filmed Superman work to date, and that was largely because the emphasis was on Clark Kent and not Superman.

I'd expect that Iron Man 3, especially now with a more classic villain like Mandarin, will blow Man of Steel out of the water.

Givin it to the man...of steel.

This threads are silly. What do we have to go on? A trailer for MoS and a few press shots for IM3? Hardly enough to build a case.
