Which film is better
Man of Steel vs Iron Man 3
Ah, I thought this was going to be an actual battle. I thought I could finish this thread with three letters and all. Anyway, I think I preferred Iron Man 3, although I liked MoS too, just not as much.
Man of Steel was better than Iron Man 3...
Iron Man 3 ruined itself when they turned The Mandarin character into a Joke and essentially tried to play it off as Killian was The Mandarin all along at the end with that weak azz line... IM 3 was mediocre.
Man of Steel had flaws in it too... but the action was very impressive and it was finally a Superman movie we could enjoy and see Kal-El really use his powers against superhuman foes instead of Lex Luthor.
Overall though, Pacific Rim and Star Trek into Darkness the Best Films I have seen this Summer.
Iron Man 3 was AMAZING up until the Mandarin reveal. Everything after that was just blah.
MOS was great all the way through.
I liked Iron Man 3 more than I did MOS up until the Mandarin reveal so:
MOS was a better overall film, but it didn't have as strong as a first half than Iron Man 3.
Man of Steel.
Though I do have Marvel-fan friends that would pick IM3 over Man of Steel even after they've expressed their disappointments for IM3.

too much jokes for me
@studentofjorel: yup. Man of steel is tried with kick-ass for the best movie ever. Nice name btw
MOS from a movie perspective - while a bit cliche, MOS was a quality film.
Iron Man 3 from a movie perspective - Iron man 3 was good. it picked up a lot nearer the end, and the humour was great, but it wasn't groundbreaking by any means.
MOS from a movie goer perspective - MOS was everything I expected it to be, which kind of ruined it for me. I've seen Superman already. I know his origin. If these films are to be successful they need to take Superman and throw him into a situation he's never been in before.
Iron Man 3 from a movie goer perspective - It was a good time. Not the most memorable film, but it was very solid. I'm not too mad about the mandarin situation but if I was a bigger IM fan I'd probably be pissed off. So, all in all, it was a solid end to a great trilogy. Didn't do much wrong, but it's not breaking a 7/10.
All in all.. I'd say that I preferred Iron Man 3. At least with Iron Man 3 I knew it wouldn't turn into a punching competition across New York/Metropolis. And MOS was an origin movie of an origin I already knew, so it only added to the "I know what happens" factor.
I'd say MOS 3 vs Iron Man 3 is in due order in a few years.
Iron man 3 ,I thought The Mandarin twist was pure genius.
Also the MoS action was just a bit too plain for me. I mean, look at the action scenes of other successful comic movies like the dark knight, the avengers and spiderman 2, they are way more inventive and enjoyable than MoS which at times just felt like a slugfest lacking in innovation. Like the bit with the heat vision an the metal beam, that's the kind of thing a battle should be mainly comprised of but in MoS it played second fiddle to boring you hit me, I go flying., i hit you, you go flying.
Although I still liked MoS, I think was just too predictable, dark and generic.
Definitely Man of Steel , and I'm not a superman fan , heck i don't even like him much but the movie was awesome, even though i like iron man more but that iron man 3 movie SUCKED , it was boring , felt that Robert Downey was playing Robert Downey NOT Tony stark and finally that Mandarin shit , like rly ? a freaking actor !!! and he wasn't even that funny.
I liked Iron Man 3 and it was my favorite of the trilogy but that's the Superman movie I've been waiting for for a couple decades.

This
I came in expecting to say Lois stomps even, but yea, in the end MoS was better.
Ugh, everytime I think about Iron Man 3 I get depressed :-7. It had the potential to be better than the 1st and 2nd films but they fumbled Iron Mans classic villian. Had Mandarin been the ACTUAL Mandarin, it could have been soooooo much better imo.
Even with that honked up version of Mandarin, IM3 was not a bad film, but I enjoyed Man of Steel more.
MoS wins
Shit man 3 is basically fighting a non magical man that heats himself to discombobulate into vampire dust that shows no challenge.
I had issues with both of them.
In IM3, I really had no issues with the Mandarin change, the original Mandarin concept would not work on film very well. My issues were that evidently everything in the movie travels at the speed of plot. Parts of armor making it from West Tennessee to the middle of Florida in about a minute and a half. Just the concept of what they did with Pepper toward the end was complete garbage. First she is a meek and frail girlfriend then oh look 5 mins later she is doing acrobatic kill strikes on IM armor, and taking out the main villain that had been batting Tony around.
I would give IM3 a 6 out of 10.
MOS: I also had issues with parts of it as well. First Jor-El now is a 4-winged dragon riding retired badass, ok, I can let that slide. I actually liked what they did with the Kryptonian genetics, maybe not the artifact part but the concept was good. I liked what they did with Zod, genetically made to be the perfect general but people hating the way he does it, Cool. The Kent's I thought were done well. However... Lois I found very irritating the entire time, she was thrown into the movie all over the place just to have Superman have to deal with her. Now to the ending... my major issue of the movie. So Superman has to save the people in the train station from being killed by Zod's heat vision. I guess he must have just forgotten that HE CAN FREAKING FLY!! Fly his ass out of the room. Must have also forgotten that he could just cover his eyes with his hand, the heat vision would not hurt him that bad. The only reason Superman killed Zod was so that the director and the producers could get the idea across that this is not Boyscout Superman, and it was obvious.
I would give MOS also a 6.5 out of 10.
MOS was slightly better, but not by much. The were both a little better than average, I will buy them on Blue Ray but whenever I get a chance not on release Tuesday.
Still I say MOS, I honestly don't know how anyone can defend IM3, even without the Mandarin twist, it was a bad movie.
@the_stegman: and detruction porn the movie was better? at least in im3 you got actual characters, not planks in costumes.

If he flies, Zod's heat vision will destroy the building you know.
I doubt he can take the Heat Vision with his hand.
To be honest, I'd have to pick im 3. The fights were mostly what added entertainment in Man of Steel .The one who played teen Clark didn't seem genuine
Yeah I liked Russel as well. Though something pings me. In the scene where Joe El and Zod fight, Jor fought better than Zod did.And he's a SCIENTIST. I mean isn't Zod a general? Cause he didn't fight very well. Fought like crap to me. Krypton must have low standards when it comes to generals.
Iron Man 3. Doesn't mean much though. It wasn't amazing.
Man of Steel seemed to be going for an oscar while still trying to be a standard summer blockbuster. Horrendous combination.
Pretty disappointed with this years cbm's. Hopefully thor can be my saving grace.

His heat vision would not destroy the building, it was just burning the wall by the people. The building would have been fine.
MoS was way better. I like the universe DC is setting up. its a real world with Superheroes. Movies that are going to good for you by yourself years to come that you have in your personal stash. To me its like if Scorsese made comic book movies.
Marvel are just blockbusters, good one shot movies. Great for TNT where you don't mind commercials because following whats happening isn't important but well be made up for by a physical gag and a huge explosion focused fight.
@misterwhisper: you have a point. Heat vision in Man Of Steel doesn't seem as destructive or powerful as it is comics
