Long boxes

I just recently got into long boxing my comics and I think I may have made an error. I have about 1 3/4 inch extra space between the comics and the wall ( if placed against one side ).

It measures outside 9 inches.

2 questions.

1) Is this typical?

2) Will this damage my comics (they are in a row still)

I don't know honestly. If it worries you though, put a cushioning between the wall and comics; u could use clothes that u never use or maybe stick a tpb in there or something.
