Justice League Of Anime

Just recently, I found this cool image on Google. Now I'm not much for anime myself as my interest anime wise is only Dragon Ball Z and Astro Boy but after reading the artist's choices for this team in terms of their legendary status, their powers and their ability to fit with the poses rendered in the original Justice League picture, I found this to be very interesting. So what do you anime fans think? Do you like this version of the JLA? Or are there other anime characters you would prefer in your Justice League of Anime line up?

Unfortunately i don't know much about anime but i've always been interested. I've seen this before but I can only recognize 3 of those characters. @Lvenger: care to give a general background description with their powers and abilities? lol, you don't have to if you don't want to i'm just interested and don't even know most of their names

Captain Harlock - Some kind of space pirate who leads an outlaw crew aboard his starship Arcadia to undertake daring raids against Earth's oppressors, them being alien invaders. I don't think he has any powers but I'm not sure what skills he has either.

Cyborg 009 - Aka Joe Shimamura. He escaped from a juvenile detention facility before being captured and received several body enhancements during the process of being turned into a cyborg. His most prominent ability is his acceleration mode, enabling him to move at a speed so fast that everything else looks like a statue to him; this mode is triggered by a switch embedded in his teeth. However, he cannot touch any normal creatures such as humans in this state; the high speeds would kill or otherwise cause serious injury to the creature through air friction. Other principal abilities include: durable skin and skeleton, superhuman physical strength, self-contained oxygen supply, night vision, and computer assisted brain enhancements.

Cutie Honey - A woman who can transform into several different persons to fight crime. They include:

• Hurricane Honey - A woman who is "cool" with her motorcycle, anytime she needs to escape.
• Misty Honey - A rockstar with a dusty voice, who uses her microphone as a weapon.
• Idol Honey - A woman disguised as a flight attendant.
• Flash Honey - A reporter who blinds her opponents with her camera's "flash".
• Fancy Honey - A classy model who uses a long-stick cigar as a weapon.
• Cutie Honey - A sword wielding pink-haired warrior of love.

Goku - My personal favourite. He was rocketed from the Planet Vegeta on a mission to Earth to destroy the population. He was found by a kind old martial artist, received a bump on the head which made him forget his mission and Saiyan heritage and is self appointed protector of the Earth. He has faced countless threats and triumphed over them all. Basically his powers include superstrength, superspeed, Instant Transmission (teleportation), durability, martial arts training and the ability to fire Ki blasts and can also fire powerful energy blasts like the Kamehameha and the Spirit Bomb. He can also transform into a Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan 2 or Super Saiyan 3 which increases his power greatly. Often compared to Superman.

Lupin III - He's considered the world's greatest thief that travels in a gang around the world evading capture from the law.

Astro Boy - A robot created to replace a son who died but is cast awat. Eventually found and fights against robots and aliens.

Sailor Moon - A girl who is a warrior that defends the Earth and the entire galaxy from the Dark Kingdom.

There should be Ichigo from Bleach and the guy from FMA can't remember his name.

It's cool. If I were to go by the anime that I've seen here in the states my team would be...Goku (Dragonball Z), Sailor Moon (Sailor Moon), Ichigo (Bleach), Luffy (One piece), Edward Elric (Full Metal Alchemist), Ryoko (Tenchi Muyo), Kakashi Hatake (Naruto).

So...who's who? Who's Batman? Who's WW? Martian Manhunter? Ect? We all know who Superman is in this one.

well the JLA are the most powerful and most well known heroes in comics, however besides three characters, i don't know who most of the ones in the above pic is...so they might not all be that popular, my choices would be

ok. I was like, "I know haven't read one piece in a while, but boy does luffy look different"...now it makes sense. My mistake...

Superman : Goku (Dragon Ball Z) Goku is earths protector and one of the most powerful pure hearted and insperational charecters of all time who else could be the man of tommorow

Batman : Desert Punk (Desert Punk) Kanta posses no superhuman abilitys nor martial arts abilitys what he does have is an increadibly strategic mind and an arsenal of special customed items to allow him to fight in the Conto desert he even has his own robinish sidekick. He's also here for contrast unlike Bruce Kanta is a horrible person who hasn't done an honest thing in hs life he saves people but he does it for money and is a comedic anti hero at best.

Wonder Woman : Major Motoko (Ghost in the shell) She's not as powerful but she's still extremly superhuman and is also the person here who is most warrier minded

Flash : Cyborg 009 (cyborg 009) Super speed red uniform

Green Lantern : Yugi Moto (Yugioh) he can't create energy construct from his immagination but he still makes monsters from thin air

Martian Manhunter : Alucard (hellsing) at first i was going to choose ban midou but Alucard is one of they only anime charecters in gokus league not only is he increadibly physically fast and powerful he has a healing factor illusions shape shifting mental abilitys and much much more

Aquaman : Juvia (Fairytale) water powers can be both extremly cool and extremly lame

Honorary members: Afro Samurai (Afro Samurai), Ban Midou (Get Backers). Recca (Flame of Recca), Haruko (fooly cooly) I just like these guys

With the ban on Manga vs Comics being lifted, causing an influx of more manga fans here on Comicvine, I will bump this thread, I will also update my original post I made a year ago, to include functionality as well as popularity.

1. Goku (Dragonball Z) - Leader, powerhouse, Icon
2. Lelouch Vi Britannia (Code Geass) Strategist, mind control, fangirl gatherer, can operate a mech
3. Sailor Moon (Sailor Moon) Mystic Powerhouse, obligatory woman,  
4. Edward Elric (Full Metal Alchemist series) Knowledge of Alchemy, battle experience, backup fangirl gatherer 
5. Naruto Uzumaki (Naruto) Ninja skillz, recognized by nearly all, Intel gathering via Shadow Clones 
6. Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece) Indestructible to nearly all attacks, speed advantage, powerhouse 
7. Alucard (Helsing) Vampiric abilities, battle expert. 

I really think Cutie Honey and Captain Harlock belong there Cutie Honey is very powerful and Captain Harlock can really kill someone.

Seriously. Is it just anime characters who are similar to the Justice League? Or are you supposed to actually pick characters who would actually fit in with the JL?

This version is meh honestly. Better could be built in terms of characters and fame. Cutie Honey, Harlock, and 009 are all pretty unknown and wouldn't fill any of the key spots.

Wait when did I make this? I don't know much about anime so this must have been a spur of the moment thing. Ah well, if it doesn't fit given people who do know the source material, I can't argue with that. Goku and Astro Boy probably fit though L might be a better Batman analogue.
