What are the upper limit of his power.
Depends on which version you are talking about?
G1 cartoon? G1 Marvel ? IDW? Movie version? Prime? etc?

I dont know, maybe the Marvel comics version since the Transformers where very powerful in them. But I am not sure the movie version also goes through Cons like paper.

Yeah I said that.
@mrdecepticonleader: Optimus Prime from the "Bayformers" movies "weak"? ONLY when the plot requires it I'll wager! Micheal Bay doesn't seem the type of director who is overly fond of keeping a consistant tone during a movie...

Not sure.
Optimus Prime's (likely) most powerful versions include:
- Unicron Trilogy
- Super Mode (Galaxy Convoy; Transformers Armada, Energon, and Cybertron)
- Sonic Wing Mode (Transformers Cybertron)
- Savage Claw Mode
- G1 Comic Series
- Optimus Prime (in general, more amped up than the cartoon and live-action franchise, with one notable exception*)
- Post-G1 (Japanese Series)
- Ginrai
- Super Ginrai (first combination)
- PowerMaster Optimus Prime (God-Bomber Ginrai; combined)
- Super Mode (Robots in Disguise)
- Omega Prime (Robots in Disguise)
- IDW/DreamWave Comics/UK Comics
- Optimus Prime (He punched Nemesis Prime through with his bare hands)
- Transformers, Contemporary:
- Transformers: Prime, Beast Hunters (he receives an upgrade and the Star Saber)
- Transformers: Animated, WingBlade Optimus Prime (wields the Magnus Hammer)
In most of the cases above, it is important to note that Optimus Prime's upgrades follow a certain pattern. The upgrades tend to include enhanced speed, flight, advanced (and possibly over-powered) ancient weaponry from past ages, increased durability, increased overall stamina and strength, and (in rare cases) the ability to either transwarp or reach warp speed.

In two notable cases (Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Age of Extinction), he received flight upgrades and legendary weaponry, without any viable explanation. Such upgrades are considered power-ups, but aren't considered in this list, due to obvious factors. First off, these upgrades are either simple weaponry or armor upgrades, and provide little to no actual power increase (besides firepower). That can be done to many machines in modern day. Second of all, these upgrades are almost completely unexplained and are somewhat based off of past modes and incarnations of power-up concepts that have already been used. In other words, listing them here would almost be like listing past items twice, which is invalid. Even when not taking these points into consideration, the live-action power-ups are not power modes (ex. super mode).
EDIT: WHoops - I forgot something!

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Marvel's version's of Megatrom and Optimus were able to lift over 20,000 tons.
Tho I'm pretty Transformers Animated might have the Strongest Megatron as it the only show that had Megatron and Starscream being stronger than Optimus Prime. Megatron especially would regularly overpower all of the Autobots at once and seemed almost invulnerable after he was rebuilt
Multi galaxy level
Cybertron Optimus Prime was able to fly into a black hole and came out of it okay, he did say the gravity was affecting him and was having a ton of trouble towards the end if not for some help, but yeah he flew into that sucka and came out pretty fine.
Optimus doesn't have a defined stregth limit but he is definetly a high tier comic character. Optimus Prime has punched through reality warpers, and Decepticons made of unmallable Cybertronian metal. I have a quote from one of the editors in my gallery from an IDW editor saying Optimus is as strong as Thor. That's not true of course, but Prime is somewhere in the ballpark of heroes like Thor.
Optimus is OP then.
Not really Megatron is equal or stronger than him. There are other transformers like Shockwave and Ultra Magnus who are around Optimus's level. Any one of the 13 primes would be in the same level or more powerful. Some were able to bend time and space, play with suns or split themselves into multibeings. Then there are beings like Unicron and Primus who are gods of creation and destruction AND THEN there are beings even above them.
So no Optimus is not OP. He has plenty of challenges, plenty of battles he can't cake walk. His Universe can dish out plenty which could kill him.
i think Optimus from transformers Cybertron TAS , is maybe 1 of the strongest , especially with the cyber keys
@titanbreaker: In general he is quite powerful. Never been a lower of powerful characters, always preferred street level characters.

Then Transformers probably isn't for you. Optimus is tough and will always be a powerhouse but there are many bigger beings out there in his universe who could literally step on him.
I'm pretty sure Unicron Trilogy (Armada, Energon, ESPECIALLY Cybertron) was the strongest version. At his peak he took on an amped Emperor Starscream who was basically above Galvatron. In his weakest cyber planet key mode he was able to swing and fly/charge with Metroplex's hammer thing which was pretty much about triple-5x his size. A lot of the characters in Cybertron were OP since by the end of it Starscream becomes as big as friggin Primus and was probably planetary level at least since he was bigger than Cybertron. And he took on Primus swinging around moons like numchucks.
@titanbreaker: I really enjoyed the old series (what I can remember of it anyways) haha. But it's not up there as a fav of mine.

Wait so an editor stated he was as strong as Thor..........how is that not true if one of the main guys involved with IDW stated such?
But wait - there's more! Due to my unfortunately dense studying of the Transformers/HASBRO fictional universe:

Technically, G1 and the Unicron Trilogy are one continuity family. Therefore, all of the feats listed for Optimus under the Unicron Trilogy still apply as part of G1 achievments if you look at the timeline progression in general. But, that's a story for another day. Good thing we aren't including the Aligned and Animated continuities, right? As I've said in other threads, "let's limit this" - shall I say, to G1 comic, G1 cartoon/movie, and HeadMasters to Zone? Just for the sake of simplicity, seeing that these versions of Optimus are more persistant and tend to match up more. Leaving Unicron Trilogy as a second incarnation for later discussion.
Lets put it this way, If Optimus Prime hits you, you will think you where just hit by a truck.
Love it!
