Jumping into an ongoing at #30 a bad idea?

Just out of curiosity is it a bad idea to jump onto a book when it's issue's are in the 30's? I thought about jumping into some on-going books that are in that are.

If you start at the beginning of a new story arc it wouldn't be too bad. Or if a book ever changed creative teams you should start there.

It really depends on the book. Some series take FOREVER for anything interesting to happen, for example, so in those cases jumping in around #30 is a good idea.

Depends on the writer. Some like a build up, others like self-contained stories, some like it to be heavily connected etc.

No, even if you are in the middle of a run, back issues are readily available. I didn't need go over the past eight hundred issues of Tec comics to love Snyder's eleven issue run.
