DC really taking a lot of the top spots! Thanks for the post.

It's continually disappointing that Daredevil, Venom, and Scarlet Spider don't sell better than they do.

Also I never would've guessed that Image's Revival outsells Dark Horse's Angel & Faith. I love both books, it's just an unexpected result.

Glad to see Superman still taking the top spot.

Glad to see Unchained taking top spot. But it's disappointing to see quality books underselling as their creative originality is miles ahead of most bigger selling books.

Guardians of the Galaxy? Really?

Savage Wolverine had a huge drop. DAMN.

It deeply saddens me that not a single Valiant title can crack the top 50.

Was there something special about #6? It sold about 17,000 more copies than #5, and about 19,000 more than #7.

Unchained dropped by like 100 000 issues lol. The mega drop that happens after the first couple of issues of a comic is always funny.

Thanks again for the sales update -- I had no idea GotG was so popular, lol.

Some of my faves are dropping lower and lower. :/

I'm curious how these DC titles would do without Batman or Superman. They rely way too much on those two dudes.

umm should I be reading Guardians ot Galaxy?

Its outselling all the other Marvel Comics by leaps and bounds and its on issue 5 which means it can't be "first issue padding"

Savage Wolverine is one (I think the numbers are because Elektra and Spider Man - as in Peter Parker Spider Man) had a special appearance) and there is X-Men which dropped two places and Hawkeye is staying at #50 but it still is making me nervous. :/

Conan the Barbarian is another from Dark Horse is another plus Thor God of Thunder but Nova dropped ten spots. O_O I really like that book, I am surprised people aren't supporting it.

Young Avengers dropped more then ten spots. :/

I was never a fan before but as a new reader, I am really enjoying it (for a Bendis book). Granted, I'm not attached to any of the characters before so I don't really know if he is doing previous renditions of them justice, but all in all -- it's a fun book. Plus, you have Angela (A Neil Gaiman owned character) popping in which carries with it its own hype.

I guess I was hoping that Gambit would pick up after the news of its cancellation, if only as an f-you. No such luck.

Surprised at how low Lazarus is on that list, although the numbers are really good - especially for something coming from outside the Big Two. It's an AMAZING book. Everybody should give at least the first two issues a shot. Seriously, amazing.

Look at the numbers, though. It's selling over 40K and the Marvel danger zone is the low 20K range. Besides, it's Fraction and it's also an Eisner nominated/winning book. And tends to make #1 on the NY Times graphic novel bestseller list

I wonder how much the upcoming movie is influencing GotG sales - have they been high consistently or are readers just trying to informs themselves for the upcoming movie?

Otherwise they look normal as far as the top 10 is concerned. Batman, Superman and the Justice League with most of the spots and Spiderman rounding it out.

@lykopis: At least the actual number of copies sold isn't dropping too dramatically for most of them. X-Men dropping 8,000 copies seems kind of steep though.

I've been reading Guardians (Marvel Now) before I even heard about the movie. So there's one example of a reader who wasn't influenced by the movie.

As someone who has no real knowledge of the characters beforehand, I have no idea where Bendis has deviated which is a good thing.

Yea it's kind of like with a lot of Bendis's books, if you have no knowlage of the characters beforehand you'll probably enjoy it but if your a fan already you wont appreciate the bad characterisation

Yeah.. same here. I had read a very minimal amount of GotG stuff before Bendis' run and it's been great.

so.. based on numbers... is Katana being cancelled soon?

Maybe. It's said that anything that consistently sells under 20,000 copies will be in danger of being cancelled, and Katana's been in that danger area since #2.

But DC do sometime make exceptions to the under 20,000 thing. Batwing has been selling under 20,000 since #12, and in July only sold 12,062 copies, and yet it's scheduled to run to at least #25.

So if DC really want Katana to continue, they might ignore the numbers and keep it going. Though if we look at what happened with Batwing, they might replace Katana in her own series with someone close to Batman to try and bring in more sales.

Yep. Plus, I am fairly ignorant of Iron Man as well, so it;s working out great for me all around, lol.

1. I didn't think Valaint sold so little! When the Thor Movie Prelude sells more than an Issue of Harbinger, there's a serious problem. Support them!
2. GotG is much higher than expected.

@sagejonathan: I think people are more likely to buy what they know rather than what might be a superior product. I've heard good things about Valiant recently.

@v_scarlotte_rose: Well that's the case with most things, but it's a shame how so many people aren't willing to try anything new at all. That applies to more things beyond the comic book industry too :/

Money is probably an important factor in it. If you're limited in how many titles you can afford, and I can see why a person would lean towards familiar things. Like I'm only reading Marvel and DC at the moment, but if I had more money, I'd probably be more inclined to look into other things.

Certain creators would be able to tempt me into indie stuff though. I'll be reading Pretty Deadly when it comes out, as I like Kelly Sue DeConnick.

@v_scarlotte_rose: Yah, I've definitely been in that position where I want to read another indie book but I don't want to spend the money, but I know there are countless readers that read mainstream stuff that they hate and keep reading it. They could use that on other books. Oh well, that's just the way people are. I'll keep on promoting Valiant every time though!

@thefirstlantern: aren't they making a movie on GotG? I'm wondering if maybe that's why more people are picking it up

I wonder if we've had the cancellation number wrong all this time. It was said to be under 20,000, but Venom didn't quite go so low, and it's gone.
