John Stewart is DCCU Green Lantern

It gotta be Idris. He's just the way better actor and gives off that veteran vibe. So, do you have any sources that confirm your statement?

I don't mind John Stewart due to nostalgia,but if they're going to have John Stewart they should of had Martian Manhunter too. However ultimately I want Hal Jordan instead.

John is the perfect Lantern for this movie. It would mean Hal is already a known Lantern and we wouldn't have to have another lame origin story from him. It also means the most common sense, down to earth Lantern possible will bring a different element to the table.

@stormshadow_x: what if I told you that there's no such thing as "deserving" when it comes to fictional characters? The writers write who they want to write in the role, especially when it comes to GL.

The Green Lanterns are supposed to be interchangeable.

@stormshadow_x: Yes. The article's source is Meet the Movie Press which is only using rumors. They even said in their own video that their scoops don't always pan out because things change as an excuse for the time they are wrong and get called on it.

calm down? I'm not upset, I'm just confused by the term "deserved." Anyway, the beauty of the Green Lanterns is that some are supposed to be in space while others are on Earth. Just because John is in the JL it doesn't mean Hal doesn't exist--it just means Hal isn't on Earth.

You could easily make a Green Lantern movie that revolves around John Stewart returning to Oa to help out Hal Jordan against Sinestro and the Sinestro corps. You can have Carol in the movie as well.

@benk111: Yeah, but Wally is Kyle and John's Flash. The Flash and GL relationship is supposed to be a buddy cop story where one is the straight man and the other the unconventional one. Guy and Hal = clowns, Kyle and John = serious characters.

@stormshadow_x: I domt have a preference. Hal is my favorite GL, but in the JL, there's only so much screen time you can give everyone and Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman will most likely get the majority of it.

That Buzz Kill Stewart is gonna ruin the movie...bring on Jordan I want Hal...it's Barry and Hal for god's sake...not Barry and John Stewart...

They should make every black character in DCCU Will Smith, and even some white ones.

@superguy1591: I've always been pretty open-minded about things and honestly I would still love the movies with a passion even if John was in them. However, Hal is the definitive green lantern. He was the corp leader and the main lead in the GL books, and a founding JL member. John is a fantastic character and I grew up with him in the JL cartoons, but Hal is the lantern who most needs proper representation. I'd love to see John on the big screen, but at the same time Hal in the comics is THE green lantern and deserves that spot.

It's similar to making a Spiderman movie, and using Miles instead of Peter. I love Miles, but its a big time Spiderman movie and Peter is THE spiderman.

So yeah, "deserve" is a strong word in the sense that every character deserves a representation. But at the same time you want to present the founding members and the definitive Spiderman, green lantern, etc. to brand new audiences

Tyrese will put butts in the seats seeing how popular he is on social media. Oblivously Idris Elba is the best possible actor outside of Denzel. But, they would have to cough up the cash for Denzel and Elba claimed he was tired of doing Superhero movies.
