I think Lee's prime was around 2003-2006 (Hush, For Tomorrow, All-Star Batman & Robin are good examples). He's still awesome, but I find Reis more to my liking in the New 52.

What do you guys think?

Hmm, depends what characters they're drawing.

I love Lee's Green Lantern and Batman, and generally most of Lee's artwork, but Reis does an unbeatable Aquaman.

David Finch is another one of my favorites, although he's generally not associated with anything that good.

Jim's art would look better if he had Joe Prado rather than Scott Williams

I still prefer Lee to Reis. I feel Prado is more of the reason behind Reis' gorgeous art though that's not to say he can't draw a damn good scene, whether quiet or action packed in nature. Lee's attention to detail and sprawling setpieces set him apart however.

Since Aquaman is my favorite character...edge to Reis. His work on the New 52 has been fantastic IMO.

@citizenbane: Reis has more dynamic pencils, but I feel like his facial work is horrendous at times. Otherwise, I prefer his work to Lee's as it's more fluid and less stiff.

I feel like Tony S. Daniel is the best artist in DC right now.

Honestly I feel like at least half a dozen guys are doing spectacular work.

But yeah. Daniel's art in Superman/WW is amazing.

Hell, even with the amount of bitching people do over Superman/WW - the art in that book is pretty damn good.

Oh without a doubt. Francis Manapul, Rags Morales, Doug Mahnke, Kenneth Rocafort, and especially Paul Pelletier!

IMO Ivan Reis is DC's best artist right now. I would say that Daniels is second and Lee is in the third.

Well let the fight begin!

5 points will be consider here: Storytelling - Expressions - Body Language - Background - Overall look.

  1. Storytelling: Ivan 5 stars Vs Jim 5 stars - both are great, very complex but also easy to understand, it's a draw!
  2. Expressions: Ivan 5 stars Vs Jim 4 stars - Jim needs a better variety of expressions, hes faces looks almost always the same. Ivan gets this one!
  3. Body Language:Ivan 4 stars Vs Jim 4 stars - both are very good, but not amazing, as many times they fight moves don't make much sense and it gets a lot of repetition over the years, always drawing the same pose at similar moments.
  4. Background: Ivan 5 stars Vs Jim 4 stars - I think Ivan does less BG than Jim, but many time this is better as Jim sometimes put so many things inside a pane that makes it a little bit over.
  5. Overall Look: Ivan 5 stars Vs Jim 5 stars - Well this is more like taste, and to me they are both amazing and i love to see them on any action book.

So to me even i like both the same it seems like Ivan wins 2 Vs 0 and 3 draws, what makes Ivan better than Jim!

@deranged_midget: Sorrentino's work on Green Arrow is fantastic too.

Without a doubt and that work is largely overlooked. Cliff Chang's work on WW is pretty impressive, clean and exciting as well.

Lee draws same faces and bodies, uses lame scratching, his designs are horrible and he isn't good with sequential storytelling - the characters are just posing and it likes you're looking at pin-up.

Jim Lee changed the industry, but his artwork has become something of a novelty when compared to other artists these days, its a tough call.

I'll go with Reis just because he is better with facial expressions.

Meh Jim Lee is kind of underwhelming these days, isn't he.

I vote Ivan Reis.

Reis. He just keeps getting better and better. Should've had him do the art for Forever Evil.

Lee keeps getting progressively worse. His work in Superman Unchained is pretty weak.

Agreed. Like I said, Jim Lee's prime was around 7~10 years ago.

Yeah, it's pretty bad when the art in the backups upstages the art for the primary story.

Lee is too lazy imo he's constantly late on his work now days whereas Reis does the same level of quality imo but on schedule
