The cast of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice appeared at San Diego Comic Con, the biggest celebration of everything pop culture in the country. During that time, Jesse Eisenberg, who plays Lex Luthor in the upcoming film, made remarks that made many people upset.
"It is like being screamed at by thousands of people. I don't know what the experience is throughout history, probably some kind of genocide. I can't think of anything that's equivalent,"
Without a doubt, being a celebrity at comic con, must be a jolting experience, but comparing the annual event to genocide seemed a bit much. Reported by AP, Eisenberg clarified his statement and got a bit more in-depth about his feelings for the show.
"Maybe on some cellular memory level, that's the only thing that seems like an equivalent social experience... Even if they're saying nice things, just being shouted at by thousands of people, it's horrifying."
For those who have been to the convention, it can be a lot to take in, even for the regular con-goer. Comparing it to genocide is a bit much, but nevertheless, Eisenberg continued to explain how the event itself is so different for him:
"I of course was using hyperbole to describe the sensory overload I experienced. I sometimes do employ that... I'm a normal person who has normal sensory experiences, so Comic-Con was very overwhelming for me. That said, it was really an honor to be on that end of such jubilation."
He did have something else positive to say about the event by saying that the fact people are excited is thrilling. What do you think about what Eisenberg said?
