Is Thanos overrated?
I don't see him rated much at all. Unless it's a battle forum thing...
Why?
@ganon15: Because the battle forum is pretty much the only forum I don't frequent anymore. Now that think about it, I haven't really seem him talked about much at all on the other forums.
No, not generally at least.

Ironic, your username says otherwise :P
Why don´t you go to battle forums anymore ?

Well, I originally joined this site for the battle forums, so without any foresight - and little creativity - I came up with my username. :P
I started out being pretty exclusive to the battle forums, but at the time I either had absolutely no idea who most of the characters where, or I didn't know enough about them to keep a good debate going. It also seemed like all the battles I came up with had already been done.
So, I kinda drifted off into the other forums and I haven't really gotten the urge to go back. I enjoy discussing characters in general more than just their power levels, anyway.

You should go to the battle forums more often, it´s really cool over there :)
@thor_parker82: I just might have to do that...

hes lying all the cool people left and we are left with just awful.
Wonder Woman's Sword can cut off Rune King Thor's head
Superman can use his heat vision to fry Thor's brain (nvm the fact that Thor has resisted Heat from Surtur) with morals on
its a scary place man
Thanos is a relatively hard character to rate to be honest. With the way different writers use him his physical prowess, his status as a marvel villain etc seem to change. For example, under Hickman he has been treated akin to a powerful but a secondary villain, with Dr. Doom taking the front seat. Under Starlin he is often treated as the biggest threat to marvel actuality who is always few steps ahead of everyone else.
Different writers have different interpretation. Under Bendis Avengers seem to be able to overpower him, under Stralin he could walk all over Annihilators. Under Rob Williams he is apparently on a league of his own capable of fighting and stalemating character who were a threat to Odin and Galactus in terms of raw power.
The difference between writers is quite significant and hence the opinion of fans would be likewise.

So much this it hurts.
Thanos has had multiple writers. Multiple different levels of what he's capable of.
Similar to Batman, I'm going to say this depends on the writer.
IMO however I'm bias because I <3 Thanos.
Yep
*puts in anaconda vice*

me thing his overrate here now
you are pitting thanos to either superhumans with fairly normal haxes or low end demigods with still fairly normal haxes and majority of thanos's showing prove him to be leagues beyond them. you also seem to think characters that have managed to hurt thanos enough are equal to the characters you pitted him when in reality those characters are still beyond them.
if there's a problem, you're underrating thanos enough to be lowballing him

Although Thanos is very powerful I feel like writers still allow him to defeat characters in ways he shouldn't (ex. Almost Beating Silver Surfer to death, Still kicking the Champion's ass even though he had the power gem, leaving the battle with Thor to get a weapon that encased him in a stasis field).

Actually it was relatively okay until recently with some users joining in which I'm not going to name.
Everything is overrated.

and yet he got killed by a rock hurled by ares.
you are overrating kratos to a point to consider him more stronger than thor.
He's a powerful character overall but there are still plenty of myths surrounding him such that people are willing to believe in all his successes or supposed successes while completely dismissing his failures during his comic career.
There's also the notion of ABC logic I've see a lot on the battle boards where a feat performed by Darkseid, Despero or Mongul is automatically translated to Thanos being able to perform that feat without direct evidence on his behalf.
^^ Hahah. Who bumped this?
hmmm..
