Is Superman physically stronger than Thanos?

I know Superman has better comfirmed lifting feats, probably even in New 52 alone, but my knowledge on DC in N52 is somewhat limited compared to Post-Crisis.

Current Thanos vs. Peak New 52 Superman

1) So who can lift more total weight above their heads?

2) Who would win an arm-wrestling match?

Part of the reason that comparing DC to Marvel is hard is that DC has so many reboots while Marvel doesn't really, so Thanos gets 45 years of feats while N52 Supes gets like 3 years. So who has amassed better feats of strength?

@ashrym: Well let's assume we meant each at their peak, peak N52 Supes.

Superman benched the weight of the planet for 5 days while cut off from his power source effortlessly.He struggled to stop the descent of Braniac's ship which was roughly the size of a gas giant , when it was falling at superspeed despite Jonn helping him . Great feats and definitely more powerful than the post crisis version , well into planet + range

However , Thanos in his very first appearance destroyed a planet as a side effect while KOing a *star* buster and himself unhurt by this . He has flat out ignored confirmed planet buster+ Surfer on multiple occasions , and beaten him to death ( Surfer's first appearance involved him surfing a supernova for reference ) with a few blows . He also thrashed another planet buster BRB similarly . Thor with the Power Gem who was tearing through multiple herald level characters , could only stalemate Thanos .

But even more impressive than Thanos' strength is his durability. He has tanked solar system + explosions collapsing upon him with minor injuries and walked through an ever increasing energy barrage from Odin on a day the first blast is one shotting someone who chills inside black holes ( Surfer)

So yes he is exponentially above Superman physically

1) supes lifts more

2) probably supes

Definitely Thanos, but it's honestly not a bjg gap. Thanos is alot like Darkseid and Supes can give him a good fight, so....

Superman is strongest there is!

Superman, he simply has better lifting feats

Thanos, he don't have direct feats but in the last decades he easily overpowered both Thor and Hulk in all their fights

Going by feats Superman has lifted more.

In terms of lifting feats, Superman.

In terms of striking feats, Thanos.

Superman name should be changed to Liftman because that's all he does.
