Is Superman a plant?

Is it possible Superman is some sort of plant/algae and humanoid hybrid? He does get his energy from the sun and it's never been proven that he doesn't expel oxygen.

I reckon the DC equivalent of the Celestials crossed algae with humans or humanoids.

Photosynthesis is probably the closest thing in real life to what Superman does but plants need other things besides light to survive which Superman doesn't.
