I didn't think this movie was anything special. I personally like The Dark Knight Trilogy more.
Is Marvel's Avengers overrated?
@edgejohn: I have poor taste because you think TDK is overrated? Someone loves Marvel lmao.
@thoughtrobot: Anything DC is trash IMHO. No hating
@edgejohn: ok then.
No. Plus you have poor taste in movies lol. TDK Trilogy is the most overrated trash in cinema history
The trilogy was pretty damn good. Still, no superhero film has been better than Spider Man 2.
In some ways. All my Marvel fanboy friends love it, but the first half was kinda dull and was just people arguing with each other.
@marvete_e_dcnauta: TRUE

The Dark Knight (Purely because of the extrodinary actor that was Heath Ledger)
Nah, only when people say it's the best CBM ever. It was one of the most entertaining, well put together and its amazing to see so many awesome heroes together like that in live action.
But it had little plot, and at times made a joke of Loki, the main villain.
Critics disagreed.
The Avengers had most of it's character development happen in previous films. And since each of these heroes where off doing their own thing a ton of set-up had to happen, while still tying give each character equal screentime and interaction, before the movie could actually get going.
The result was pretty epic, but to compare this one movie to an entire trilogy seems a bit unfair to me.
*grabs popcorn* this is going to get intense.
@rouflex: you're the first person I've ever seen swear on here lol.
Critics disagreed.
Critics are just overweight lonely virgins that jack off during the nude scenes in films....

@rouflex: you might want to censor the word b*tch.

My tender ears (eyes?) can't take it.
@darthmummy: no. Because the mods care about the innocence of our youngest viners. *eyeroll*
I don't think it's nearly as good as some of my friends give it credit for. That being said, it was still a vastly entertaining film, that helped lay establishment to the superhero cinematic arms race. I personally preferred the DK Trilogy, but I don't think calling such a success overrated is really fair.
Nope. It's still my favorite CBM my only complaint is the lack of Hawkeye as a hero doing his thing. Hopefully Age of Ultron rectifies that and that will take the place as my #1.
Very, but it is still a very good and enjoyable movie.
That's being said, it created a group of fans who say "Doctor Strange? Oh my god, nerdgasm! Doctor Strange is so cool!"
I don't know a damn thing about Doctor Strange and I've been a comic fan for 10 years! =D

Well someone sounds butthurt. Still upset that Twilight got a bad review, eh? Man of Steel, maybe?

I don't like Twilight, Man of Steel was meh. (Dark Knight) was extremely good. but no I'm not "butthurt".
Also when you said "Critics disagreed" why is The Dark Knight 4th greatest movie (ever) on IMDB. (It has a rating of 8.9/9)
And admit it, Heath Ledger held up the Dark Knight.
Maybe a little, but it's still a fairly important film in the comic book movie genre for seamlessly bringing together major characters in a shared universe.
Word to the wise: IMDB is a terrible, TERRIBLE source for movie rating. For every 100 genuine movie critics who rate on that site, there are 100,000 average Joes who skew the scores with incredible bias. The Godfather has more 1/10 ratings than Gigli. The Interview has more 10/10 ratings than Academy Award winner Argo. It's the equivalent of judging the quality of movies by how much money they make... ie. It has little bearing.
The point I was making, however, was that someone insinuated the The Dark Knight was superior to Spider-Man 2, and from that I said critics disagreed. Spider-Man 2 has the highest Tomato-Meter score ever for a Superhero movie, slightly ahead of TDK. Spider-Man 2 also has a higher score on Metacritic,an aggregate critic score site.
So if you highly value IMDB's rating system, that's okay. If you personally hated SM 2and love TDK, that's okay too. But he said TDK was better than SM2, and the critics really did disagree.

When you say Tomato score, do you mean The Rotten Tomatoes website? because they are both at 94%
most of the mcu is mediocre imo. i like all of the movies except thor 2 and iron man 2. the stand out films for me are iron man1 and cap2.
imo avengers was great in the first half when there were a lot of character moments. the plot and the action was mediocre to bad.
the best directors in CBM's who make actual good films and didnt just luck out on 1 film. Singer, Nolan, Raimi
Spider-Man 2 is 93.68%. TDK is at 93.67%. It's really really close, but they don't have the same score. Thats like saying if New England scores 31 in the superbowl, and Seattle scores 30, it was a pretty close so they should both get a tie. No, one is higher than another.
