Is Loki really adopted?

I was watching this scene from the Avengers where Thor claims Loki is adopted.

I understand that this is just a joke in this scene. But is Loki ACTUALLY adopted? And if he is, who are his real parents?

have you watched thor 1 ? because it's explicitly shown there on how loki was found by odin after he defeated the frost giants. it's also explained there that laufey, the leader of the frost giants, was loki's father

Laufey is his biological dad, in both movie and comics

in comics his mom is Farbauti - but his biological mom has never been mentioned in the movies. Based on how he felt toward Frigga its a bit pointless.

Well in Norse Myth, he's technically Thor's uncle. Sorry I have a great love for Norse Myth (not so much the Marvel version of it.)

Adoption is a legal process technically isn't it? So unless they filed to a court I say no.

The laws of adoption could be different on Asgard than on Earth though.

I guess this is true.... I'd still like to see some sort of official paperwork and evidence they passed some sort of adoption testing criteria. I don't care if he's the king - obviously wasn't a fit parent. XP

I always just assumed there was no legislative system and that whenever somebody did something that displeased Thor or Odin they would jut beat the sh*t out of them.
