I don't know much about him.
Is Lobo DC's equivalent of Deadpool?
@linsanel_doctor: Really? The fact that they're insane, hitmen, break the 4th wall, are "jokey" characters isn't similar at all?
Marvel ripped off Deathsroke and made him jokey = Deadpool
DC ripped off Wolverine and made him jokey = Lobo
And lets not forget Wolverine is a rip off of both Timber Wolf and Hawkman.
Everyone forgets that deadpool is a parody on deathstroke. You cant parody a parody.
I disagree.
I don't care who rips off who, as long as it's a blonde, a brunette and two pairs of skimpy lingerie.
That being said, Deadpool is far superior to Deathstroke. I'd rather laugh my crack off then read about some angst-ridden assassin. Just my personal opinion, which in the bigger scheme of things means about as much as a promise from a politician.
No. Lobo is basically the mirror image of Wolverine and Punisher but they (Deadpool/Lobo) do share similarities.
An opinion that doesn't regard itself as the absolute know how to all other opinions!?
WHAT HAS THE WORLD GOTTEN TO?

The same jokes over and over again get old. Deadpool was okay in like 1994.

like what
- Created 8 months apart from one another.
- Both created/designed by the same person.
- Near identical color pallets.
- Both started as teambusters.
- Both mercs/assassins.
- Lots of costume similarities.
He was DC's answer to Taskmaster.
Just a few I can think off the top of my head.

Me too.
@patrat18:@allstarsuperman Yes.
Because people always compare Deathstroke with Deadpool, not Taskmaster.
Hell, there's even a reason why Deadpool is always beating Taskmaster. I'm pretty sure they wanted to subtly imply that Deadpool can beat Deathstroke, since he beat Taskmaster. It's weird ABC logic, but I think strangely works.

On Deathstroke.
I hope not because Deadpool is quite possibly the worst character I've had the displeasure of reading (and I actually read SSM) and I'm highly interested in Bunn's new Lobo ongoing

Whaaa???
@beaconofstrength: @patrat18: we compare Deathstroke to Deadpool because Deadpool was initially made as a knock off to Deathstroke the terminator. Hence the very similar names.
Now I haven't really seen anyone compare Slade to Tasmaster but I can see some similarities. But, the reason why Taskmaster lost to Deadpool is because he relies on his ability to predict people's movements, which Deadpool proved to be too unpredictable. Slade however, does not rely on predictability, he relies on his ability to outsmart his opponent, and to stay tactically a "dozen steps ahead". I don't think, if he acted unpredictable that it would effect Slade nearly as much as it effected Taskmaster. That is basically due to the mechanics of his person, and what makes Taskmaster so strong. It is similar to a form of precog, being able to predict your opponent based on past tendencies, which was taken advantage of by Deadpool's fighting tendencies.
@cable_extreme: I'm very aware why Deadpool and Deathstroke are compared, but I was simply pointing out that Deathstroke was DC's answer to Taskmaster. The signs are way too similar
And you didn't get my analogy. You're taking taking it too literally. I meant there was a reason it was Taskmaster, of all people to be paired and fight with Deadpool. On a side note, Taskmaster doesn't solely rely on the ability to predict his opponents moves. It helps, but he doesn't rely on it. He's still one of Marvel's most skilled. While Taskmaster does have the ability to predict others' moves, his main advantage is using is copying his enemies' moves and using it against them. He's not useless without the prediction. When Taskmaster is paired with Deadpool, writers somehow forget he's still extremely competent fighter. Anyways, I only pointed out why I thought Taskmaster, of all people, was paired with Deadpool.

Look up Timberwolf, Wolverine ripped off his looks completely. And the Adamantium = Nth metal from Hawkman. There is way too many similarities to ignore.
Deathstroke was a Wolfman creation and Wolfman specifically mentioned Batman as the inspiration,Perez's influence may have resulted in some aesthetic similarities but that's really it. Superficial similarities dont equal ripoff because then Black Panther is a Batman ripoff, just using an example.
@beaconofstrength: the reason why Taskmaster lost to Deapool is due to Deadpool being able to be unpredictable by Taskmaster. He couldnt predict his next move because there was no rhythm to his fighting. In this specific case, Taskmaster was defeated because he couldn't predict Deadpool's moves, which in my eyes, basically says he relied too much on that ability. In all honesty, taskmaster really isn't that similar to Deathstroke, their weaponry, history, physicals, prepping ability etc... Are all pretty different. I can go through them all if you wish.

Its just a misconception.
Sure, Timber Wolf debuted in the 60's but he was just a normal looking dude with a normal personality that had heightened speed and agility. In fact, I I recall, he was thought to be an android at first. His feral personality and "horned" hairdo didn't come along till Dave Cockrum re imagined the character....the very same Dave Cockrum who later on gave Wolverine his signature hairstyle and worked with Claremont while developing his feral personality. So, you are basically saying Cockrum ripped off himself???....Over the years, as Wolverines popularity grew, Timber Wolf was modeled more after Wolverine actually, complete with giving him a healing factor.
Nth metal was originally just kind of magical, and it negated gravity. Also, its not the only fictional superstrong metal or mineral that has been thought up over the years....saying Wolverine rips off of Hawkman because they both are concomitant with a fictional metal is way over generalizing. Its like saying the Hulk rips off Superman because they both have super strength
@cable_extreme: Late response, but here. Of course they aren't really the same now, but Deathstroke was originally DC's answer to Taskmaster. It's just like how Deadpool is so different to Deathstroke. He has a different personality, and character has branched over time, but he's still a "ripoff".
Like I said earlier, writers seem to forget that Taskmaster doesn't always rely on his prediction. They forget that he's competent when he's with Deadpool. Also, you're still taking the "Deadpool beats Deathstroke, since he beat Taskmaster" way too literally. The battle itself wasn't my point. The Taskmaster vs Deadpool argument is for another day.
@beaconofstrength: I don't buy it, they literally hardly have anything in common accept George Perrez.
