Is Kaine truly a monster?

So after reading the last issue of Scarlet Spider(sucks to have to say that) I can't help but feel bummed about Kaine for how it went down for him..By that I mean watching Annabelle,Wally,and the rest freak out after seeing Kaine turn into his monster spider form and tear that ghost chick to shreds . I mean I really felt sorry for the guy because all that build up of him trying to be a hero only for it to crash because he gave in to his "other" to save everyone. What do you think though? Is Kaine right in that he's truly a monster and it's completely pointless for him to try otherwise or is he wrong and is just too stubborn to accept otherwise?

I guess I can understand why his friends reacted the way they did to what they saw but I can't blame Kaine..He was trying to prevent anyone else from getting hurt or killed

Yes He is a monster but tHat doesn't mean He's an evil monster. He's a monster in the best possible way.

Being a monster should be judged by his actions, but you said it all.

To be honest the ending felt a little rushed.

WHY MARVEL? WHY MUST YOU TAKE ALL THE GOOD THINGS AWAY FROM ME?!

Remember, he's a clone of Peter. And Peter's famous for his guilt, never letting things go, always taking responsibility for things that aren't his fault or beyond his power to control. Kaine inherited that trait, though he'd never admit it. But look at his behavior: He killed a lot of people. He's responsible for that. And he just keeps doing it, because it's all he knows.

He's got that Parker Guilt pumping through him, but Kaine's is actually justified, and directed at himself. He see's himself as a monster because, just like Peter would rather see how many he failed than how many he saved, Kaine would rather look at the corpses left in his wake than his supporters cheering him on.

So no, he's not a monster. Just a Parker.

What got me was that he told Annabelle and the gang multiple times that he was a "monster" but they kept denying him and then that happened..I agree jon however since Kaine seems to contain everything that was bad about Peter it makes me wonder if he'll punish himself harder than Peter does when tragedy happens

Okay, technically he is, but I mean when it comes to his actions/mentality.

You are who you choose to be, not what you're forced to be. Just because he looks like one doesn't mean he's a monster, his scars were healed before, why not again?

@theacidskull: People fear the unknown. Seeing your friend turn into a spider-monster screaming "Prey" you might freak out a little. Especially in a world where one person can mind-nuke a planet.

@theacidskull: Yeah I understand the Irk but to be fair to Annabelle she'd just be stuck in a lift with someone who said she was Kaine's lover and then entered a room to find that a Wasp-copy of her had just shagged her boyfriend........not many women could tank that lol! The Spider-transformation was probably the icing on the cake.

I'm hoping we'll see her again in New Warriors!
