will smith has been cast as deadshot....but is floyd lawton white or black

i really don't give a fu*k since its the movie version, but just curious what his race is in the comics

@thanatic: In the comics (and all previous adaptations), he's white. But that's far from the biggest problem I have with this casting.

He's white. I'm more worried about the fact that Will Smith only has 2 characters and neither fits Deadshot. But now that I've said it I'm prepared to be called a racist despite not personally caring what color actor they cast in the role is.

What is your biggest problem? I think Smith has the ability to pull off Floyd's personality.

Nope, he's traditionally white, but it doesn't really matter. Also, Will Smith is a great actor when he turns it on and has the right material.

Deadshot isn't nearly awesomely charismatic enough to justify this casting

Deadshot from Arrow is better.

I mean he was kinda Hispanic in assault on arkham, but besides that he's been white.

I heard Floyd's mustache quit the movie when this casting was announced.

What I want to know, is when did Midnighter become white again? Could have sworn he was Black in Stormwatch at the start of the New 52, now all of a sudden he's white in Grayson??

This is not a casting decision I would have made but I think Will Smith can pull it off. Humorous, apathetic, amoral assassin with a death-wish seems in his range.

I'm pretty sure he was White in Stormwatch, based on the pictures.

Will Smith is a fantastic actor with a lot of range. 7 Pounds, I Am Legend, Pursuit of Happyness, I Robot. He plays TONS of dramatic roles, not just comedic. He can do Deadshot, the casting is fine.

As for race, no one said anything about Jaimie Foxx Electro or Michael Clarke Duncan Kingpin.

Acrtally quite a few people were't happy about the Kingpin being black,but it's not like the Kingpin's the Joker so it wasn't too noticeable.

As a black man, not really bothered by race, just not a fan of Will Smith.

I had serious qualms about both.

As did many others. But, neither are Supermen or Wonder Women. So it wasn't raging the masses.

The bad thing is that after watching the movie they may try to pick up the comic, then complain for change when they find out Floyd is a white man.

or change the comic to fit the movie.

All the haters clearly didn't see Smith's top tier acting in the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
