I one day want to start my own comic book company with superheroes I'm currently working on, and was curious if you think another big comic book company is possible.

Possible, yes.

Likely, no.

EDIT: Don't let this hinder your desire to write and create though; keep those juices flowing as long as you live.

yes, but only if it makes something REALLY good, something that people will want to buy absolutely because it's really awesome and different from the rest!

then there's the buisness part, which is equally important to get things started, and lastly a good management...

if all these things are done than yeah, it is possible, but not easy for sure.

It's gonna be tough as heck right now, I want to do the same thing but I realised the amount of work needed to even contend with the big 2

@redatom1234: Well I wouldn't say I'm trying to beat Marvel and DC, but how much work were you talking about?

Follow your dreams. However crazy they seem.

Then don't stop till you get there.

@justblac: the type that reaches you in a safe position. You'd have to worry about all the typical things a business needs first then you have the biggest problem which is competition, you would have to find ways to get your characters out there (TV, movies, toys and good comic covers, basically the hard part is competing, that's why DC has vertigo and marvel has image etc

I have the same dream as you too, and my answer is yes. However, don't believe that your company will spring to Marvel and/or DC's level any time soon. It took them 40-50 years to become global level companies. However, you can still be a profitable and marketable company.

If you want to succeed, make sure you have a team of at least 2 other guys with you, who are as dedicated and knowledgeable on comics. Money won't hurt either.

Not as popular as the top 2, probably. But still, you should do it!

@justblac: it's gonna be hard but you would have to try the ones mentioned above, having the money to make a TV series or movie would be a great visual representation of the character, perhaps you could also advertise them in other books kinda like how marvel does marvel now and stuff. I'd say to give it time to find a suitable way to get them out there, the main thing is making sure you have good interesting stories, at least that way you offer a level of consistency even the two most popular companies in the world can't offer

@redatom1234: For now I'll just work on the characters and build the universe but I'll definitely look into those things when I'm older. Thanks for the info.
