Is a super sayian caused by Genetics and emotions ?

I had a theroy that all super sayians have a gene that is passed down to there children. For Example Bardock to Goku to Gohan and Goten this also applies to Vegeta and Trunks. Even though Bardock wasn't a super sayian when he had Goku, the gene could be there but he couldn't unlock it because he didn't have the need to unlock it as Goku states in the hyperbolic time chamber.

I personally belive it's a mixture of both the Emotional need and the genes

Its a break in the gene. Most peple are too lazy to relies this but if you push yourself hard enough you can break the limits of your genetics. Example being born with skinny calves, and having a predisposition towards it. Most lazy F. would say that hey that's genetics. Hard willed person like Arnold S. would push to their limits until their calves develope.

Emotion. When Goku is teaching Gohan to become a super sayian he tells him to use his emotions to transform not push him self

bardock's parents were SS

neither was King Vegeta

neither were Broly parents.

it can't be genetic. evolution doesn't happen in 1 generation.

its emotion. the reason its rare is because the saiyans were/are an inherently shallow race. they fought and they f**cked. that's about it.

it's mostly emotion given that it requires an extreme emotion to unlock it and on small account genes because trunks and goten were able to access SSJ forms easily. note that goku was born before bardock achieved SSJ form and gohan was born before goku reached SSJ form. the only chink in this theory is that it doesn't account on is whether trunks was conceived before or after vegeta achieved SSJ form and future trunks had difficulty reaching his SSJ form.

Pretty much. Goten and Trunks can/have powered up on a dime without much emotion in it.

Back in the day when having a super saiyan status was legendary..

At that point I wouldn't have been surprised if they made Krillin go Super Saiyan..

Of course its genetic. They had legends of Super Sayains before Goku which means they had the possibility to transform before him. Just because these people didn't become super sayains doesn't mean they didn't have the genetic code for it, it means they just weren't able to realize their full potential. Not to mention its implied ALL sayains have the potential to become super sayains, meaning its a genetic trait of the species.

The Super Saiyan transformation became obsolete unless it was a fusion transformation and even then Gotenks became fodder too.Only SSJ Vegito was relevant as a SSJ and it was to witness a humiliation of the most powerful DBZ Villian(not counting BoG)

No genetics, if it was genetics, Goku shouldn't be able to. His father was the lowest level foot solider.

But, yeah, tremendous emotional upheaval combined with enough power to actually make the jump. The reason Gohan transformed so early is that his Super Saiyan father trained him (and he had serious potential lawlz). Same reason why Trunks transformed so early. Goten though....it was kinda random.

It is implied that the entire race of sayains has the ability to transform into a super sayain. Meaning that there is a genetic trait in the entire race that gives them the power to transform. Just because one sayain doesn't become a super sayain doesn't mean that the gene to become a super sayain wouldn't be passed down to his children.

The best real world example I can think of right now would be baldness. Your dad could have a full head of hair and his dad could have a full head of hair but you could just as easily go bald. Now just because your family traditional doesn't go bald doesn't mean they didn't have the possibility to go bald in their genes. The fact that it manifests itself at some point shows that the potential was always there it just wasn't dominate in your family's specific genetic code.

I always assumed it was emotional. But I think a child from a saiyan that has already ascended will have a easier time transforming

the power to become a super saiyan is in every saiyan but a lot of them didnt know and/or didnt have the emotion to make that jump.. goku and company did. there is probably a little more to it but i dont feel like typing it

it is mainly training and emotions but genetics helps a lot like gotten and trunks was all genetics

More of an emotion. Its when you snap, and at your most vulnerable it comes to life.

Anyways goten and trunks most likely got their ssj forms from genetics

Goten was conceived after goku became an ssj

Trunks was conceived possibly after vegeta became one (we don't know exactly when he unlocked ssj just that it was unlocked during the. 3 years)

Both. It has to be genetics because you need to be a saiyan in order to SSJ. And every saiyan that went SSJ was pissed at the time of their transformation. And I am pretty sure that Akira siad that Bardock was a cannon character. So him going SSJ would be cannon.

@superguy1591: Didnt Akira say Bardock was a cannon character in an interview. The first time the name Bardock was ever said was in the Bardock movie. Never in the anime series are the manga. That should make the movie cannon.

EoB can't be canon because of the way time travel works in dbz
