Hello.

I've used to read a few comic books many years ago, like, Phantom,Spawn, etc but stopped, after it felt like this wasn't my thing anymore.

But now i've really got into Batman and want to start reading again

So the question is: Since i'm not really good at keeping up with stories and don't want to start from all the way back but somewhere where i can keep up. Which Batman comic should i start with?

And are there any other comics you'd recommend? Because i really like the dark ones (Like Max Payne/Spawn).

Hey, welcome to ComicVine, get out while you still can.

The best Batman titles are 'Batman' and 'Batman and Robin.' Both pretty good and only 9 issues in so you wouldn't have too much catching up to do, can try and find the back issues or the first seven issues of Batman just came out in hardcover which would be a lot easier to find.

As for dark stuff, Animal Man, Swamp Thing and I, Vampire, also all only 9 issues in.

Stick to the New 52 titles, specifically Batman by Scott Snyder.

Yeah, you should definitely pick up The Black Mirror. It is easily one of the greatest Batman stories ever told, in my opinion.

@Skoomax: I guess you could try the latest batman comic #1, the series is only 9 issues in so it should be easy to catch up

Welcome to the Vine! I'm the Doctor!

For Batman titles to check out... go with Batman from the New 52, it does not disappoint.

@Skoomax: I'll echo what most everyone else said... Scott Snyder's Batman is the way to go... but all of the rest of the bat books fill their own little niche, which really allows you to pick and choose based on what elements you like best..

Black Mirror is certainly one that I'd highly recommend...

You can pick up most of them right now... I'd check out their tie-in to the Court of Owls books... each one gives a sort of example of tone, while basically clearing the palette for whatever storyline is going to come up next.

I'd most quickly recommend: Batman, Nightwing, Batman & Robin and Batwoman

Other books I'd recommend checking out would be Animal Man, Swamp Thing, I Vampire, Justice League Dark and a few others... you can't go wrong with the other recommendations in this thread.

Batman Volume 1 is available right now, collecting Issue #1-7, and #8 and #9 are still pretty easy to find on stands or online.

I'll be sure to check them out.

And is Catwoman something to go after too?

I haven't read much catwoman yet but the new 52 series looks quite dark so hopefully you'll like it.

also if you're looking for someother things not as dark check out nightwing, justice league, batgirl, red hood and the outlaws and possibly teen titans. but those last ones are just titles i've enjoyed.

also welcome to Comic Vine!
