The Official website for the Fantasic Four movie states that along with his stetching abilities Reed Richards will be able to warp space around him. Also Sue Storm will be able to fly.
If Your Expectations Were Low They've Now Been Lowered
why would that lower my expectations? I actually want to see how they do this. If anything it raises them.
@glemerald924: well im done. I wasnt going to see it anyways, now you've given another reason for me not to see it
@the_stegman: because this is a total smack in the face to the Fantasic Four franchise. I don't mind the castings or the minor changes to the characters but the one thing that should've remained the same is their powers. When have you ever seen Reed Richards warp space. They might as well make this a sequel to Chronicle.
@glemerald924: Seems very in-line with everything else they've changed. Also, I kinda like it.....
Honestly, if Mr. Fantastic doesnt do anything crazy with his abilities the way Luffy from One Piece does then he NEEDS the warp space ability to keep him interesting.
@glemerald924: Maybe he has a device that does it. Seems like something Reed would build.

Indeed.
I trust Josh Trank will make a good movie.

No. No device involved. It's apart of his power set.

I think you misinterpreted what it said. "AFTER BEING TRANSFORMED BY ONE OF HIS EXPERIMENTS, HE CAN WARP THE SPACE AROUND HIM, AND APPEAR TO STRETCH HIS BODY INTO IMPOSSIBLE FORMS AND TO INCREDIBLE LENGTHS."
It's not that they are giving him an additional power on top of his stretching, they are simply giving an explanation of how he is able to stretch, or in this case, how he appears to be stretching.
This movie is changing way too much.
A black Johnny Storm, a hacker Dr. Doom, and now a space bending Reed Richards. F*** this movie.
@glemerald924: @harriso: @legacy6364:Screw all that i dont care. My only concern is that The Thing is butt ass naked during the movie.
I actually think this movie looks really good. The trailer was great. The Fantastic 4 have been declining in popularity for years, and after the last movies bombed, I don't blame them for taking a new approach.
I bet half of the people upset don't even read F4 comics and are just looking for an excuse for something to be mad about.
Reed has had one of the lamest super powers in all of Marvel ever since the Marvel Age of Comics began. I do not see this as a problem at all, especially since, in practical terms, his powers seem to be the same as they've always been.
Frankly, having the power to actually warp space would be much more fitting for a guy named "Mr. Fantastic" anyway, IMO. There's nothing especially "fantastic" about stretching, it's just weird.
While I don't like Reeds new power, my expectations aren't lowered.
What will make or break the movie for me will be how they use Doom.
I don't recall Sue being able to fly in a traditional sense like Johnny in the comics, but I do remember her being about to create an invisible force disc that she can manipulate so it looks as if she is flying however it works more like Iceman's Ice-slides than actual flight. All in all, I am more curious about this movie than ever. Pants-less Ben Grimm and all.
Sue has always been able to hover and fly. Until we know more about reeds power such as how it works and is it a gadget I'm also not worried. Looking forward to this movie
Maybe I'm wrong but don't we see Sue flying in the trailer? There's a brief scene of an orb either flying by a mountain or bursts through it, it's one of the two, anyway I assumed this was Sue flying, I think you can kinda see someone inside. Was I the only one? Maybe just wishful thinking that wither the outcome of the movie is good or bad that they can get Sue right this time.
And as been stated Sue has been flying for a while now creating hover boards under her feet. I'm sure we also see this briefly in the FF Silver Surfer movie during the London scene.
This is supposed to be realistic so that's the most real explanation they can give to explain Reed's powers...

She can already fly with her force fields, and how does adding powers make it worse?
The whole point of the FF was they were based off the four elements: earth, air, fire and water. With Reed "stretching" because of warping space, it takes away his malleability, a property of water. If you ever look at his power skills, when he relaxes, he can form himself into any shape. Warping space, IMO, reduces his powers. This means he'll only give the appearance of stretching.
@sbyrstall: Flying - moving or able to move in the air
She physically rides her constructs through the air; it's not an illusion.
.... K
Can MOS warp space around himself :p ?

Depends. WHen Superman starts to fly, debris will float around him,
@thetrueclarkkent: I always thought that was just an extension of his flight, I.E Telekenisis.
Anyway, a sensible answer to a trolling question.

It's never been shown in the Cartoons, movies, shows. So it's cool to see it demonstrated a bit better

I know.... you failed. You can now hang your head in shame
@thetrueclarkkent: Well, he isn't superman, but MMH has used TK on objects before, both in comics, and The Batman IIRC. So it does make sense, and looks pretty cool as a visual effect.
We can't all be Jaken or Saren.
