This is a new series I'm going to try and start up if it gets enough of a response out of people.

This specific one will be: If You Could Be any Historic Commander who would it be? It can be from anything such as: Ancient times, WWI, WWII, or Modern Times. You do NOT have to meet their ultimate fate. An example would be if you picked Caesar you won't get stabbed to death by your closest friends. This specific one has to be a commander that has/ is existing. There will be another thread for fictional commanders.

I would be Hannibal Barca, Son of Hamiclar Barca, Commander of the Carthaginian Army. Both father and son were renowned commanders for their efforts in the Punic Wars and Hannibal nearly took down the Roman Empire and he would have had his government not stopped him.

I'd be Hitler, and I'd kill myself. I think I'm missing the point, though...

EDIT: Kill myself before any of the stuff he did, I mean.

Hitler to be honest

#5 Edited by Deathstroke19 (3799 posts) - - Show Bio

@dondave: @dabee: haha. That's a pretty good answer. The point is to pick a commander that you would want to be/ admire. It's like the "if you could be any superhero who would you be" threads but I'm going to try and start a series. For your answer it doesn't have to be admire but if you want to be him to stop the things he did then go ahead theres nothing wrong with that.

@dondave: For a similar reason as me, I hope?

To be fair I do admire Hitler for what he accomplished, not all of it but most it.

Hitler, Genghis Khan or Napolean.

@dondave: that's totally fine. Your entitled to your opinion as is everyone else. @dabee: not many people do. (Joke)

I said most of what did, going from an ordinary soldier to Dictator, preaching of the Aryan race despite being the opposite of it, defeating France etc.

@monsterstomp: ... Darn you... Rotten kids...

Lol but seriously a real life historical commander. Fictional will come later because i feel there is too much of a variety so I'm separating it into two groups.

King Leonidas because he was great king not only because he stood 300 brave in face of a mass army but because he was a king that would never ask another person to do something he was not willing to do himself and also because he was front line fighting king.

He is Also my ancestor

@dondave: As a Jew I do agree that Hitler was a genius. I would not go as far as saying that I admire the guy, but his accomplishments were extraordinary.

#33 Posted by Deathstroke19 (3799 posts) - - Show Bio

@bigbadwolfx0: are you really related to him?!? If so that's awesome.

Genghis Khan

You know how many women he got and how powerful he was.

@monsterstomp: He got with some many women that there is a .5% chance you are related to him. He also wiped out an entire city filled with 1 million people in one day IIRC.
